On monthly occasion, of auspicious timing, the yōkai of Japan gather together in a grand parade! Normally, this would mean certain death, but Sack-Thing has received a special invitation from Nurarihyon himself to attend the festival!

Hyakki Yagyō is a platformer and my first (probably ONLY) Dynamic Thermometer level. It boasts a total of 72 unique types of yōkai, numbering about 100 in all.

The level takes you through a Japanese inspired landscape, from temples, to forests, to mountains, and even haunted houses and the pits of Jigoku.

There are lots of Fox-Fires to collect, each worth 500 points, and plenty of carefully crafted scenes and yōkai to discover. (Can you spot them all?)

The level also include a fairly easy, but nonetheless impressive, boss fight with an Oni! A metric ton of work has been put into this, and it looks super awesome. So give it a try! THANK YOU!!!

Very awesome level! I liked this a lot, a bunch of detail and love the visuals as well =3 I also loved the boss fight against the Oni! Great job ^^ I recorded it as well, it might go up on youtube shortly 2015-08-29 18:43:00

Some news on the Hyakki Yagyo front: I didn't want to make a new topic for this or anything, because it's just a supplement. However, If you want to know more about the youkai featured in the level, there's now a Youkai Collectible gallery available.

It's literally just all the youkai on little trophy bases. Each one has a button, and pressing it will lower the arm so you can collect the collectibles, while also providing information. Thinking about it now, I might go back, and remove the logic on each arm, and just keep all the collectibles dangling, so getting info and getting the bubble are different functions. At any rate...

I really enjoyed the heck out of this! Loved all the artwork you've put in. Just beautiful. I did have a problem with the boss fight though. I don't believe the problem was on your end but rather on mine as in my poor playing skills XD. Great level.2015-08-31 15:43:00

I was actually thinking about trimming parts of the boss fight. It's quite a long battle right now, and if you end up missing a chance to throw bombs in his mouth, you have to repeat an attack phase. I figure that by getting rid of Phase 3 and Phase 5, and altering phase 4 just a smidge, It will flow better, and be less difficult.

I may not change it immediately, because it took me quite a long time to program his attack patterns, and I'm not ready for that work to have been wasted yet. XD		2015-08-31 15:54:00

This happened to me on the first two phases, wasn't that annoying though. I also missed the throwing ones a few times, and thought that this was where a little trim may help out.

Understandably it would be pretty hard to do, and it wasn't that bad... even putting a progress bar to know that you hit halfway or 3/4 would help with this, as it wasn't the re-tryign that was that annoying, its not knowing if you are getting close that is a little off putting.

Unfortunately, I didn't play your level when it first came out. BUT OMG is this freakin' amazing! So much pure creativity and detail. This is way beyond anything I could design and probably most of the community. So many unique and interesting characters. At times it was overwhelming because I enjoyed everything so much. Too much awesome on the screen, you know. The boss fight was great. I read comments before I played that it went on for too long. That's a legitimate complaint, but I didn't mind at all. Once again too much awesome. I had to double check that this wasn't team picked already. How could this not be team picked? Anyways, so glad I played this.My only complaint is the music gets a little repetitive. At first the music is great, but it repeats itself a lot. There's probably nothing you can do about that though. I can't leave my post on a negative so AWESOME.2015-12-14 18:39:00
