Just Bought LBP3 - Advice?

Archive: 7 posts

Ok, when the game first came out I seem to recall there were issues with transfering your profile from LBP2, especially with regards to DLC you'd bought. So my first question is, did this get fixed?
Next, I need to understand the process of transfering my profile/objects from LBP2 to LBP3 (PS4), here's how I THINK I'd do it:

1) Copy LBP2 profile to PS+ cloud and/or USB. If there's any objects in my toolbox (eg music sequencers) I want to keep, I need to save it in a locked level on my Earth, and copy over once I've loaded up everything on the ps4.

2) Re-download any DLC I purchased on LBP2 - fortunately for me this is only 2 or 3 level packs.

Is that it? I don't have to replay the DLC to get the materials/sequencer objects etc again do I??

I haven't tried to merge my old profiles together yet (mostly because I lost them) so I can't help ya there...but --

You can get all your non-DLC items from LBP1 and 2 by going into Settings - My Unlocks. (You have to be online to do this) This will give you all the items from the previous games based on your Pins.

You can get all the DLC items you need here, so you won't have to replay the levels (many of which are unplayable anyway):

Hope this helps!

I was never able to snag my profile from LBP2. I even had issues snagging my costume. Once I had the DLC issue sorted out, I published a locked level in LBP2 containing a bot with my costume and pulled it down in LBP3 to my moon.2015-08-18 22:31:00

I didn't actually see anything to import my profile, just the unlock thing that comishguy mentioned. Seemed to be ok though. I don't have my costume though (the one from my avatar), but that's no big deal.

Played a bit of my LB2 level 'Contrast' on LBP3 last night, some of it just doesn't look right . It's a black and white level (not silouett, using stickers etc), and some of the shading just looks "off". Plus the text at the bottom of the screen that's there sometimes is now skippable when it wasn't before. Bit annoying, but oh well. It's still getting plays amazingly, despite being a couple of years old. BTW, is there any way to see the total number of plays in LBP3? All I can see are yays/hearts etc.

To import lbp2 content that you made, You will have to publish them on Lbp2 and copy it to your lbp3 moon. That's what i do. and you do have to replay the dlc. But if you go on the community you can find tons of timesavers packs. Hope this helped 2015-08-19 09:44:00

Yeah, comishguy posted links to timesaveer levels. I did create a level on my earth with the objects I wanted to keep (just music sequencers ). I still have my PS3 and don't have any plans to get rid any time soon, so I can still access all my old stuff if I need to.

Most of my LBP2 levels have some issue that makes them not so good in LBP3 so I've added "LBP2 Only" to the titles.

If you're planning to work on levels from LBP2, capture your objects and then go start fresh in an empty LBP3 level. Last I checked the thermo was smaller on a level copied from LBP2 (but that was a while back, may have changed) and I've heard a few creators say that random things were not working - a motor bolt here, a sensor there, just more tendency for logic bugs.

Remember to back up your profile on PS+ or a USB, and also back up your Adventure Progress
