Here it is Sackfolk, the 2nd kartless level as promised, Gunship

Controlling an radio controlled helicopter you need to find and land on the helipads around the playground environment. There are some obvious helipads and some that require puzzles to be completed to reveal the helipads, however if you get stuck clues are available.

A short training session will get you used to the controls and these can be shown again anytime during the level.

I guess so, especially when you use the 'top down' view. But this is why, in my humble opinion, LBPK is so good, full 3D. Really wish there were more creators out there willing to put the effort in to show off this great level editor.

Fantastic level.
Controls and camera are great.
Enjoyed the different areas, each showing a unique build.

Second and third time, I just flew around checking things out.
It's a chill level.

-Idea-
Would it work as a 4 person? Just duplicating and changing the color of the craft renaming copied logic to player 1-2-3-4.
Replay... multiplayer.
Would be cool.

Yes, it's possible. But you'd want to be able to shoot the other players wouldn't you. That creates a whole lot of problems with flying dynamic objects in that the act of firing a weapon at another player causes a 'recoil' effect on the helicopter (I've tried it). The 'thing' you're firing in this level is just an emitted object I created. I guess a Tag on the 'thing' and tag sensors on each of the players helicopters would work but it wouldn't have the same 'hit' effect. I suppose it could turn off the gyroscopes and spit out sparks and smoke for an amount of time maybe?

It would also have to be exclusively human players of course.

This was really well done! The helicopter looked great. The challenges were well thought out.

I had a couple of minor comments about it:
1) It would have been fun if there was some destructible items throughout the level to shoot.
2) Maybe it's just me, but the controls seemed backwards - meaning the joysticks were reversed from each other. Traditionally, lateral movement is controlled via the left stick and camera/tilt is controlled with the right. Just took a little getting used to.
3) The vertical movement (L2/R2) could have been a bit faster. It felt much slower than the other movements.

Overall, a very successful level! I think it would be fun to see a fully realized level around this helicopter (not as a toy) with a few missions to accomplish, enemies to fight off, and spotlights to avoid. Imagine using this build as a helicopter vs. Godzilla/monster fight! Lots of possibilities!

Really appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

I enjoyed building this level and tried to make it as user friendly as possible with the ability to bring the controls back up on screen and hints in case the player gets stuck. It's been commented on previously that I am guilty of assuming the player will 'obviously' know what to, so I took this to heart with this level and made about 70% of the helipads easy to locate and small puzzles to reveal the remainder.

I even added a prompt on screen to tell the player they were close to a helipad, even if it wasn't immediately visible, again to try and make it simpler.

I believe the balance was about right. Yes, it does require some thought/effort to reveal some of the helipads, but it would be incredibly boring otherwise in my opinion.

Glad you enjoyed it. Like the ideas suggested by yourself and V2C for further levels involving the helicopter. Seems a shame to shelve it after taking so long to get it flying correctly, so I'm fairly sure you'll see another level starring the gunship.

After about 10 or so, it became much harder to find the helipads. I definitely used the proximity sensor, and even the hints for the music stations and the president challenges. I recognize the amount of work that went into the hints after trying to make some for one of my last levels, and yours are pretty helpful, which is commendable to be able to provide good hints without really spelling out what has to be done.2015-09-03 17:27:00

Hey scorpio.. multiplayer is doable with shooting, i'd got it going for that bee simulator i showed you last year but never finished, too complicated to explain but if you want i'll put it up as remixable so you can see how to do it, shoots dynamic objects fine, respawns not a problem, i'd finish it but still got surf sim and ghost train to do and plus in obsessed about getting my first lbp level finished2015-09-04 12:19:00

I wonder why it won't work for the helicopter then? Firing a weapon just causes a recoil effect (spins the copter backwards), I tried loads of ways to do it but assumed it's because the helicopter is literally a floating/flying object that it has no stability to stop the recoil. So went with emitting a dynamic object with speed.
