New Level: Disney Princess Pack Inspired/3 years in the making! :)

Archive: 7 posts

Yes, you read this thread correctly! This level has been 3 years in the making for me…on and off of course. But I finally have been able to finish after all this time! I just wanted to put a lot of love and time into it, I never wanted to rush and just wanted to take my time and enjoy it!

Unfortunately, I don’t think it will work on LBP3 because I used theck/thack material, which is not compatible in LBP3, but maybe I will do another updated version of it for lbp3 users…someday! Lol

I love building architectural things and I love all things Disney, so I have wanted to create something with the Disney Princess Pack for a long time! There are lots of mini games, so the more the merrier! Hope you enjoy this as much as I did creating it! <3

I haven't played it yet, but I have it in my queue. As it is a LBP2 level I'm going to play it in LBP2.2015-08-11 15:54:00

All righty, I gave it a try. I admit I was playing this on PS4 because I was using the system at the time. The visuals are great, but a lot of the levels facets were broken on PS4. I didn't have much trouble with the first area. It came together fine and dandy. But the area with Ariel, Jasmine, Tiana and Belle, I don't know how, but I was able to move between FIVE different layers, and I was almost certain I was not meant to be there. I was constantly trapped in the background, drowning to death in the second area, so I'm going to try it again officially on LBP2/PS3 to see if that changes things.

Overall though, I like the idea of playing all the mini games for each princess. I think many of them had glimmers of potential, but one major flaw throughout: PLEASE tell us what we're supposed to be doing, and how to do it. The ONLY minigame with instructions was the Sleeping Beauty level. And the only instruction was R1 to shoot. I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing in the Rapunzel minigame. None of my efforts to control Pascal worked in the slightest as far as I could see, and without instructions, I had no way to tell if what was happening was correct. He would launch onto the screen, then immediately fall back off the screen again, over and over, for five minutes.

The Sleeping Beauty level was the most functional, but terribly difficult. The thorns simply moved too fast, and my magic wand wasn't quick enough. near the end I got stuck in a constant loop of death because I had no way of killing thorns as quick as they appeared. Snow White's level had glimmers of immense potential, but I think my PS4 was the one breaking it. I could only jump when the game felt like it, when was almost never, and I had a nightmare of a time attempting to change layers. Cinderella's Drag Race was my favorite, but again, it had problems. You could only change layers if the game felt appreciated, and you filed your taxes, and it was a bank holiday. And eventually I got stuck in a pit of no return.

That's me trying to drive. At that point I could only reverse, and get stuck on a different building. I mean... clearly that pumpkin does not fit through that passage.

Graphically, everything was very promising, and I can't say I didn't like it as a sort of social experiment, but my experiences on the PS4 were incomplete. I'm not upset, because I have a sneaky suspicion that many problems were due to my system of choice.... excluding not providing instructions. There's no excuse for that. But as is, I have to honestly admit that the technical issues did not let me have a good time.

So the good news is, I'm going to play the second half officially on a PS3 in LBP2, which will hopefully work better. That and the Cinderella drag race again because I super-liked the idea of that one. But later maybe, when the track has been more thoroughly tested for navigability.
