How can you make the player sensor last forever?

Archive: 5 posts

I hope you understand. I'll try to explain this as clear as possible.

Ok so when I put a player sensor, if I walk out of the radius it turns off. But how can I make the sensor stay on forever when I leave the radius? Understand? I know you could make the radius infinite but I want the player sensor to last forever when I leave the radius when the radius isn't infinite. Let me know, thanks.

Like... before you get in, it's off, then you get in, then it stays on forever? If that is the case this is how you do it:

Advanced Logic > Counter > Place it > Change it to 0 out of 1 > Put player sensor output into the counter > Use the output of the counter from now on

I always tend to favor using a Selector for this sort of thing, same result though

They are both correct...

However this might help you to understand if you are new to logic.

You have to think of things bit differently when responding to events. The player sensor, in this case, is simply the trigger you have chosen to react to an event. The event in this case is a player finally reaches a zone in your level. So lights on... water level change, door stays open... whatever the case, you want that to be permanent. What you are really looking for is a perm switch of some kind. Both the above methods are excellent ways to accomplish the same thing.

Here is a wonderful tutorial by a buddy of ours, accomplished creator, and Tarsier Level Designer, Comphermc.

Connect the player sensor to a counter and set the counter to 0 out of 1

Player sensor > Counter > [whatever it activates]
