Dark Souls III

Archive: 14 posts

First just want to say, good to see the site back up.

Now to the thread topic. So by now people have seen the announcement trailer as well as TheKnow who were the first to share leaked images of the game, if you haven't well here are those videos:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyRJ5u-L8qw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvURg49qsWE

Now since E3 we have some information on the game thanks to behind the door demo inteviews like below:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/16/e3-2015-dark-souls-3-is-everything-i-want-in-a-dark-souls-sequel

Now to talk about the game. What we know so far is that this game seemingly takes place during a time when the world seems to be ending due to what are called the 'Lords of Cinders' rising. We see one of these Lords of Cinders rising which is the giant at the end of the teaser trailer. The game itself has seemingly been in development even before Dark Souls 2 competition under the head of Miyazaki once again, this means he was working between Bloodborne and this. It's described as being the last Souls games being made in this way, now what that means is still up in the air really but some thought for awhile it might the end of Souls games but Fromsoft has come out to say that isn't the case, just that development will be different in the future after Dark Souls III.
Back to the game story, now what will this mean for the story, after all Dark Souls 2 we learned that the cycle of the undead was never stopped in one, that the cycle is continuous and happens again and again after so much time has passed. Yet with the Scholar of the First Sin update/version of the game, we got another ending that throws the choice of light and dark to the side (which both are represented by the Throne of Want) and to break the yolk of the world, to shatter the cycle. So this brings into question when this game takes place and what ending shall it follow since it's not so easy to combine the Throne of Want ending and Aldia's ending together like it was with Dark Souls ending. The tone seems different though, rather then this being about the undead curse it seems more about that the world is coming to an end judging by the looks and description of the game.

As for gameplay, one good thing is that Souls Memory, the plague of Dark Souls 2 online play is gone. There are different stances that will be in the game though we don't entirely know what that means yet. The game is going to have less locations then Dark Souls 2 but be connected once again like Dark Souls if not more complex level design. One rumored mechanic we still have yet to confirm is the carrying of corpses that you can use for bonfires.

So what do others think about this. Our first look of gameplay outside of closed doors will be at the upcoming gamescom which people will be able to have hands on with the game.

Partially a shameless bump but also just a reminded that with Gamescom around the corner, we edge closer to seeing our first bit of gameplay and I'm getting excited for it. Personally I hope we get to see the boss that was shown behind closed doors at E3 which is called currently the Dancer of the Frigid Valley, we even have some concept art of the boss I forgot to post in the original post:

49908

EDIT:

Gamescom trailer has been released. Shut up and take my money please XD:

Some gameplay has come forward from IGN from the tech demo at Gamescom. Please remember that Fromsoft makes the builds on the op side of things to make it less likely to die in these demos so don't expect it to be so easy.

Another new trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK2jPpSd7P4

A few interesting things I noticed through my first watch:

-At the 29 second mark it seems we have a slight tease to another boss fight, since it appears to be a cutscene.

-At 35 second we see what seems to be a giant and what is interesting about that is its helmet looks very similar to the giants of Dark Souls yet body was it looks like Dark Souls 2 golems we saw scattered around Vendrick's castle.

-At 45 second mark we see another ice knight similar to the one that could be found in the beta, makes me wonder if these guys might be the new black knights for this game since they are no easy task to take on.

-At 57 mark it's either an enemy or boss but it seems to use magic due to the crystal attack it does to the player.

-At the 59 second mark we definitely get to see a new boss though it's hard to tell its shape due to the explosive slam attack it does.

-At the 1:25 mark we seem to see that second portion of the giant tree boss that was revealed in gameplay footage about a month back. Looks to be a darker area with water on the ground perhaps.

-At 1:29 I found the helmet I want now. XD SOLAIRE YOU SHALL NOT BE FORGOTTEN! PRAISE THE SUN!

-At 1:35 we see the return of the Elite Knight set.

With the release in Japan, a new trailer has come out. Don't watch if you are avoiding spoilers because a lot of new bosses are shown.

Long time no see. Anyways Fromsoft teased last week of an annoucement coming the 24th. With the reveal being tomorrow, someone on Playstation's twitter went and got a little excited to early and gave us the reveal of what it shall be:

50372

The tweet has since been removed but not fast enough to stop people from getting snapshots of it. The trailer unfortunately was still private so no one knows what that is like so still have to wait until tomorrow for that.

Nice trailer. I am tempted to dive in again even though I prefered Bloodborne and Dark Souls 1 to the latest game.2016-08-28 16:45:00
