Which Order Did You Play The LBP Games?

Archive: 42 posts

Just a fun poll for everyone since I'm genuinely curious about everyone's LittleBigPlanet journey!

Which order did you play the LittleBigPlanet titles?

For me, I've been playing since the original LittleBigPlanet, so my journey is just in order of release date:

LittleBigPlanet
LittleBigPlanet PSP
LittleBigPlanet 2
LittleBigPlanet PS Vita
LittleBigPlanet Karting
LittleBigPlanet 3

I'll be interested to hear your stories of how you got into LittleBigPlanet though and the order that you played the games!

1, 2, Vita, 3

Watched nearly all the gameplay demonstrations before launch and was hooked... now about that ice hazard. I always considered the other two main titles as expansion packs rather than sequels so getting those was an easy decision. After LBP2 came out I joined Central, entered a ton of create Contests failing to win the crown in every single one of them, actually did win a contraption challenge... the only one not awarding a crown, by which point I gave up and joined the Contest Crew. Some time later became a mod... now working on a super neat level concept I just published a teaser for and am thinking about getting into live streaming levels when I get some more free time.

...and that's my story.

As for Vita, well you hired the friend I created with so I just had to play through it.

I've started off with the original LittleBigPlanet.

On January 2010, my family bought a PS3 with Fallout 3 and Modern Warfare 2.
One Saturday, we went shopping for ps3 games I was stuck between picking ether Ratchet & Clank or LittleBigPlanet.
I saw some funny machinimas for LittleBigPlanet and I loved the idea of creating your own levels and sharing them online.

So I finally choose the game I wanted to purchase, read the instruction manual the way home; inserted the disc in and waited for patches to install.

It was evening and I was greeted by the handsome Stephen Fry, dressed my sackperson and took my first photo.
It was a blast!

Then May 8th came, It was the day screenshots of LBP2 was shown and I was EXCITED!!!
I was like "OMGS! SACKBOTS?! DIRECT CONTROL SEAT?! HOOKSHOTS!!!"
And later the trailer was released.

My mind exploded! (not literally, otherwise I wouldn't be here)
"FULL SCREEN POPIT! NEW COSTUMES! ANIMATED TEXTURES! SACKBOTS! YOU CAN CONTROL SACKBOTS! DLC COMPATIBILITY! RACING GAMES!"

My body and mind was full of HYPE!
I continued playing LBP1 with my friends.
But on September...
It was the day!

I was invited to the beta of LBP2!
I downloaded the Beta, reported bugs and exploiting the many game breaking bugs at the time.
The community levels were amazing!
Shorts, Jungles, Music and RPG demos.

I was still a newbie creator at the time.

The game came out and got it day one in Australia.
I had a more amazing time playing the game even though there was some bugs here and there.

When the NGP(Vita) was announced I've found out that a LBP game was going to be on it!
I saw the trailers and jumped on the hype train as usual.

I was amazed that you can take the LBP2 experience on the go and you can even download levels to play them offline, more tools is a nice touch and made creating easier.

Karting was around the corner and I was excited.
A 3D LBP would be a dream.

The game came out and I enjoying playing the story tracks and such.
However, I found creating to be difficult for me and tools from previous games were missing.

The Cool Levels had Amazing Tracks however, the cool levels page never changed and I stopped playing LBPK.

I took a break from LBP after creating a level in 2.

I got back in early 2014.
Met many LBP friends on twitter and found some incredible creators.

I gave LBP PSP a try and it is a good time waster but it feels dated compared to LBPV.

E3 was here, and surprise! LBP3 was announced!
I loved Oddsock, made pals with Toggle and Swoop is a bird willing to help.

Hype again blah,blah blah.
Got invited to the beta and reported a lot of bugs.

The 16 layers was much bigger then I expected and I thought LBP3 was going to have 5 layers way back before it was announced.

The game is finally out and got the extras edition.
I had a great time with the game however, I suffered from a lot of bugs and had to wait for patches to be released.

Many bugs have been patched since then.
I've gotten more recognition over time thanks to twitter, YouTube and LBP forums.

And that's my LittleBigStory.

TL;DR Version

.LBP1
.LBP2
.LBPV
.LBPK
.LBP PSP
.LBP3

I saw the E3 announcement for LittleBigPlanet1 and was convinced I'd like the game. When it was finally released I went down to my local movie rental store, yes we still had them back then , and rented LBP1. I took it home and my daughter and I played it for about an hour or so when I took it out of the PS3, drove back to the store and took it back. I then drove 35 miles to the nearest department store and bought the game. Been hooked ever since. I got the games in this order:

LittleBigPlanet 1
LittleBigPlanet 2
LittleBigplanet PSP
LittleBigPlanet Vita
LittleBigPlanet 3

LBP 1 Bought at launch
LBP 2 Bought at launch
LBP PSP Welcome back promotion
LBP Karting PS+
LBP Vita Free with system
LBP 3 Bought at launch

Was initially attracted by the prospect of level creating and sharing but ultimatly I hardly ever touch create mode and just pop in every few weeks to play some community stuff.

From the first reveal until the first game was released it was the one single game I wanted so badly and I can't remember the exact date when I played it but my trophy will show it. I was lucky enough to borrow the game from an owner of a gamezone retail shop something like two weeks before the release date. I played through the game in one evening and it was glorious. I was told by this guy not to go online because Sony could see it and he might have gotten a fine but he trusted me. I did go online a little bit. I don't think anyone was on. Trophies popped up. Gave it back the next day and waited patiently for the release. It was fantastic. When I was watching the very first reveal I was watching with a friend and I distinctly remember thinking and saying something like "This is it. People are going to recreate all the old school levels. Super Mario Bros 3 and Mega Man." I was instantly aware of what people were going to do with this game. They really got me just a couple of minutes in. I knew what MM was going to do, what they wanted to do. I didn't need any convincing of anything.

I played 1,2 and 3 and I briefly tried the other games.

Edit: H4H?

I saw my first Sackboy when I preordered Super Smash Bros Brawl from EB Games. There was an LBP page on the calendar they gave me. I was creeped out.

Then I saw some trailers on the internet a couple of months down the road. That one gameplay video where the 2 people made boxers was what sold me.

I've been playing since the launch of LBP1. I remember scanning the internet pre-release for beta codes but not being successful. Then I signed up for LittleBigWorkshop on the day that opened up, too. I have 2 copies of most LBP games, because my brother and I would play using different PS3s/PSPs/PS Vitas.

LBP1 on launch day. I was 13 (now 20).

LBP PSP on launch week

I got Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves from an free voucher code thing I was sent before LBP2 came out.

LBP2 on launch month (I was having PS3 troubles around that time so it took a while)

LBP PS Vita before launch day (thanks Best Buy!)

LBP Karting I got for Christmas after the game released.

Then I got LBP3 at midnight on its release day.
Still waiting on RSBR to release on Vita though.

I've been playing LBP for over a quarter of my life please send help.

I bought LBP1 around launch, but didn't start getting really into it until about March 2009. Since then I pretty much bought all LBPs at launch expect Karting. The only games I haven't played are LBP PSP, Prehistoric Moves, and Run Sackboy Run (but that last one doesn't really count).

Now I'm nostalgic for early LBP1, thanks

LBP1 in 2009.

LBP2 on launch in 2011.

LBP Vita and LBP Karting on launch in 2012.

LBP3 on launch in 2014.

As for LBP PSP I've played it on and off since 2011 or so, but the game just doesn't hold my interest. Especially knowing there are the superior console versions.

And just for bragging rights, I suppose, I own every available piece of DLC and have achieved all trophies across all LBP games. I sure hope this franchise can continue as I've been a big fan (and supporter of it). If it doesn't however, at least we got 6 releases within 6 years which I'd say is quite an achievement.

My LBP adventure started when I was 7 years old and my mum stayed with me in hospital because I had kidney failure.
(Don't worry i'm healthy now.)
Some organization named "I have a dream" it gives gifts to sick children with threat to live. I could get whatever i wanted but i can get only one thing so i asked for PSP.
I had it for a while and then I visited games shop with my dad because I wanted some new games.
I saw nothing intresting but i looked at game named "LittleBigPlanet" for PSP. I bought it and loved it.
Next games I bought were:LBP1, LBP2, LBPKarting, LBP3.

I started with LBP2 as a birthday present from my daughter, then I continued with LBP1 as a belated birthday present from myself. When Karting was published I thought: time for another present from myself! Then I got me a vita with lbp (thanks, Jürgen, for this little birthday present! ) And on last Christmas I've got a PS4 with LBP3 as a present from...myself! Sorry, little daughter, no presents left for you!

...I think she still regrets, that she'd set off this avalanche!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

I started with LBP1 in 2010, got beta of LBP2, bought PSVita for LBPV Beta but got no access, so I played LBP PSP (but never created) on my vita and got LBPV later when it was released, next was in LBPKarting beta and this year LBP3 Beta, but at the moment most of the time playing again LBP2 because I still have big problems playing LBP3 with friends online...2015-03-05 14:07:00

I started out late in LBP 1, I earned my first LBP trophy on Februray 1st, 2009. This was when Blockbuster was still in business and I rented the game from them, if I knew about the game beforehand I would've gotten it earlier. I ended up buying it from them and getting platinum for LBP 1 on January 12th, 2010.

I got an email and I was invited to play in LBP 2 beta since I played LBP 1 a lot and I had most of the dlc.

I pre-ordered LBP 2 and I stayed up all night waiting for my game to get delivered on January 18th, 2011; when I got it I got to play it a little before going to school. I platinum'd it April 6th, 2011.

I was invited to play LBPK beta, I pre-ordered the game and played it on November 11th, 2012. I ended up getting platinum on January 8th, 2015; I wanted to platinum it earlier but I was focused on other games at the time.

I wish I got invited to LBP 3 beta but unfortunately I did not get to play it. I pre-ordered LBP 3 on PS4 digitally so I could get the character shirts, I played it at midnight on November 18th, 2014. I ended up getting platinum December 20th, 2014, I also bought the PS3 physical version for LBP 3; I platinum'd that on January 15th, 2015.

I wanted to play LBP psp and vita but I never got the chance to, hopefully soon I will be able to. I have also played Run Sackboy Run on the iPhone and I loved that game; I ended up getting the RSBR shirt.

Consecutive order, played 'em as they came out. (Though I didn't play any karting or any of the psp/vita games. Straight up ps3 stuff for me.) I didn't get started with LBP until like either late 2009 or early 2010 or so though, so late start I guess?2015-03-06 03:59:00

bought little big planet 1 without really knowing what it was, i remember i got a t-shirt with it in "blockbuster" guess lbp had a better fate than those guys.=P didnt have prober internet back then so it was mostly 2 player create for me and a friend.
then little big planet 2 came up, now i had internet and i meet a bunch of awesome people and did a whole lot og online create. little big planet 2 is still the best gaming experience i've ever had part of that is because of the friendly community but the other part is the sweet game.
then a friend left for sweden to work on vita. so i got me a vita and lbp vita but my dang hands are kinda to big for vita, beautiful game none the less!
and now i got a ps4 and little big planet 3 is out and its calling me to get back to create again, and i will oncei get a little more time on my hands again=)

LBP1 @ launch - was blown away by the E3 demos... tried to make some stuff got super involved and spend hours messing around, but felt it a bit limited/complex to make the things I wanted to make.

Had a new job at the time so stopped playing, after about 6 months or so. Saw the microchips and logic in the LBP2 demo and brought it a launch, and messed about making stuff, for a while then got involved in the community here.

Brought a vita to play LBPV, brought a Move to play that pack, bought a PS4 when LBP3 was announced. Got LBP3 on launch day, actually took 2 weeks leave (from the same job I started 7 years ago) to get playing.

All this time I have been trying to make the same stuff. Back to the future content, have to get around to publishing it this year, because the future in the movie is this year!

I played the beta, but couldn't get my head around it. It was pretty cool, but the last two racing games I played were Burnout 3 and Gran Truismo 2, so I guess I'm not the really that into racers.

For me, I joined in kinda late into the scene, first starting to play in 2011 a week after the second one came out which was also the first one I played. A few months later I got the GOTY Edition of the first game at my local game store that was closing down and played that. The full order I played them in is:

LBP2
LBP1
LBPV
LBPK
LBP3

I do own the PSP one, but haven't played it.

I went someday in Playstation Home into the Cinema and saw the Trailer about LBP 1 and on the next day I started the game.
It was the 17th March 2009.
I liked the game so much and played it with my two accounts because I run out of space for publishing new level.
Maybe this was the reason for my invite to the beta for LBP 2 which I really loved and played it day by day by day by day. (Years later...by day.)
I tried out LBP Vita but LBP 2 is still my fav! I own a copy of LBP Karting but (sorry) still never played it...the same with LBP 3.

LittleBigPlanet3 - First day of launch
