PS3 vs. PS4?

Archive: 14 posts

I was just wondering where the majority of the community is? I, personally, am still back on PS3 when it comes to LBP3, but as to everyone else, I just wasn't sure. It seems that there might be more of the community playing LBP3 on PS4 than PS3, am I right? Still, I am posting this thread to ask the community...
What platform do you all use?

I'm on ps3 but a lot of people on this forum that I've come across is ps4. The main thing I've heard about the differences is that ps4 is buggier but community levels that lag are worse on ps3.2015-03-01 23:49:00

Yeah, I'm currently at a dilemma because I want to be involved in the LBP3 community, but as far as I can see there is like two sub-communities, (PS3 and PS4) and I don't know which one is like... the one? I'm just trying to figure out where everyone is, honestly.2015-03-02 00:07:00

The majority of LittleBigPlanet 3 players are on the PlayStation 4 system than the PlayStation 3 system it seems.

This infographic from December that StevenI has posted on the PS Blog should show you an example:

As you can see, 27% of players were on the PlayStation 3 system in December. It definitely has changed since, but not by quite alot.

I don't think it's two communities. There are only a few differences, the biggest of which to me is that ps4 players can add trailers to their levels. That and the two systems can't multiplayer together, but I don't mp anyway so I haven't noticed that as much. All help and level topics will apply to each version though, so it's not Luke the community is divided.2015-03-02 05:15:00

Yeah, as I've learned. I'm glad the levels cross over though, that's encouraging. But for someone like me, who values the multiplayer just about as much as the independent creation itself, I just really wanted to know where everyone else was, y'know? I'll probably stick with LBP3 on PS3 just because it's the most cost-efficient thing to do right now, but regardless, my curiosity is still in where the community mostly resides.

(And as this thread has proven, it seems to be primarily on the PS4 right now.)

I'm thinking of getting it for the PS3 as well, but would be a hassle to juggle between the two system or play on one system more.
Has anyone actually got both?

I heard the HUD Element works just for the PS3, but I think the light patterns and the camera shine is only available for the PS4. Didn't experimented that if the light pattern and the extra shine will still be there for the PS3 after I set its preferences for it.

I have both.

What I have noticed. The ps4 version can do more. There are tools like the trailer option and the interactive live stream. They both have bugs, but different ones. The ps3 version is constantly having trouble loading levels, even on my moon and it cashes more. There is certainly more lag and it's not just in laggy levels. It's when loading anything. The ps4 is way faster. I haven't had it freeze yet. No loading problems, but I have had profile issues where story prizes and pin progress was not saved. Also I have all my dlc on the PS 3 where not all of it is available on the 4. Also on the 4 I have to replay the dlc levels. what I have done is publish a transfer level so I can port things between the systems.

I prefer the PS 4 version, but without the 3 version I would be missing lots of stuff I payed for. I don't do much in the joining of friends for playing levels, but even for that I would bet on the 4 because it is the system that is on it's way in, while the 3 is on it's way out.

PS4 is the majority yes, but equally if your looking for an upgrade, I recommend. Since not only is the majority of the community here, but the majority of Playstation gamers, so if your looking for a break for LBP, PS4 is the to way go.2015-03-02 18:00:00

I'm on PS4 and love it, I think the biggest thing I like is the graphics compared to the PS3 version: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/xXKXMHXH0Ec/hqdefault.jpg

While that picture was taken during the Beta not much has changed graphically. Best thing is when wearing the default skin on sackboy he is actually fuzzy looking when you zoom in close which I love! <3

An interesting note graphically: the stitches on sackboy are 3d on the ps4. That means you can use them to angle decorations of you want and it means they can be stickered differently than sackboy skin. It can get in the way too, but it's kind of cool.2015-03-02 23:49:00

Can't say what people are still playing now but the very limited sales information showed the game selling more on PS4 than PS3.

...it means they can be stickered differently than sackboy skin.

To clarify, when you sticker Sackboy, you're essentially placing the sticker onto his texture map which can be somewhat unpredictable since you won't necessarily know which parts are next to each other on the texmap, but the threads are now a different area of the map so they can be left white or be colored depending on where the sticker is placed.

Here is an example of a texmap:

If this were Sackboy's map, then placing a large sticker onto his tongue could cause the hair or ear to become colored as well. The threads would simply be another area of the texmap whereas before they were simply part of the image on his head.
