Top Down Ramps/Stairs.

Has anyone figured out a method to do this? I know Felkroth has, and will be asking them tomorrow also. Just figured I'd ask on here so I can continue with my level. Much thanks!2015-02-26 05:54:00

You'll need an advanced in/out connected to an invisible block of material and it will need to move in/out based on the player's position. I've done it in 3D using the player's in/out position but haven't tried it in top-down. It should be much easier in top down since you can use a tag sensor set to "closeness" to get the player's distance from the target.

The invisible block will need a physics tweaker that sets it to collide only with the player so that it can move up/down through your ground layer. If you're making it multiplayer compatible (and you really should), you'll need one of these blocks for each player, each keyed to a tag that's unique to that player.

I think this has been accomplished using a form of 2D mapping. Use two blocks of sticker panel connected by a piston. Make the set up the length of the ramp. One block is static and the other follows the player. Set the piston strength to 0% and use it's output to drive the in/out mover like described above.2015-02-26 23:44:00

Already tried various methods. Using closeness only works right if you have a 90 degree angle. Likely what I will have to do is multiple tag sensors, that set the signal at various points, have it hooked to a timer on positional, and voila. Disable other logic when on a ramp. Thanks for the help though guys. In top down the issue with using ramps is actually walking down them, not up. Walking down , they don't exist as an object. Each ramp needs to be configured seperately.

@One-Mad-Bunny, 2d mapping won't help so much with this. That's an alternate method of using top down. and the system has to have variability, so using 2d mapping is pretty well out of the question, not to mention it's just extra tags where they aren't needed.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I'll see what I can come up with. Hopefully I can have a simplified/more universal system than Felkroth does... (Tooo much stuff in their logic).
