Where's the Wiki?

Archive: 10 posts

I don't know whether or not this has been pointed out before, but anything linking to this site's wiki gives a 404 not found. I was just wondering what the story with that is.2015-02-22 17:23:00

It was destroyed in a hacking incident back in Dec 2013. So it has been broken for a long time now... I became admin in July 2014 and made a few attempts at fixing, but is going to take a bit of rewrite of the add on to ever get it to work... well, that is however it was supposed to. lol

The add on was done in a way to use another wiki and make it compatible with vBulletin. Problem is that guy has long since gone away and his site offline so there is really no support to it.

Next time I have a long weekend, I will take another look at it. However with the recent hacking event and the site being down, I have spent quite a bit of time on all that and the Wiki has long since dropped off my radar.

Maybe someone else has made a similar wiki add-on for vbulletin that could be used instead and is still supported? Seems like that would be easier to mess with then trying to resurrect an out of date add-on that could lead to possible security holes in the future....2015-02-22 19:47:00

Good thought! I will take a look when I get a chance. ..but doing my taxes today. (bleah)

Actually one of my largest challenges since becoming admin was not having access to the vBulletin site or forum. When CC handed the keys off to Warlord and he on to Taffey, none of them had the login and access to get anything. Not even the original install files! So in order to even compare bits of the site when we were hacked and figure out everything wrong (some 326 files), I purchased a new license.

It was a bit of a hit to my pocket, but was better than the frustration of working blind. ..and I now have support and access to their add ons and forum. As a bonus, we can also upgrade to version 5 when I get some time.

There is such a thing, (another way to bring wiki into forum sites) called VaultWiki, but it's not entirely free (though relatively inexpensive, for upwards of 15$) And I think it's a little less dated than what the site was using before, I'm not sure.2015-03-02 08:15:00

Seriously, why is LBPC a target of hacking? I can understand if big sites that are for-profit or gets heavy traffic is more prone to hacking, but a small site like an LBP fansite? Why?2015-03-03 01:26:00

If theres an exploit available and someone that knows how to use it comes through it will be used. Maybe to prove a point maybe for the lulz maybe for another reason.

It's a shame that so much work was blasted apart. The wiki was a wonderful thing.

This is probably the closest you can get to accessing it right now (or then?): http://web.archive.org/web/20120401074100/http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/LBPWiki_Main

If you have trouble accessing some pages then try jumping around the years and months.

This is pre-PSVita and pre-LBP3.
