Boston, MA. 1774 (Open world/Showcase)

Archive: 10 posts

What is going on guys! It's been forever since I've posted on this site. I'm happy that the site is finally back up and people are still using this website The project that I just finished Showcases a few new chips that I have created in lbp3. Like weather logic, night and day cycles, and so much more! I Have decided to recreate Boston, Massachusetts in LBP3. I wanted to use all the available room to make a denser city with more buildings. Unfrotunately I could not add NPC because I was, and still am experiencing sack bot glitches. I have created a new weather system that can randomly decide when to rain, and when to stop raining. The environment reacts to how long, and how much it rains. I really hope you guys enjoy the level! Don't forget to leave a review. Have a creative day! I've never visited Boston, not even for a tea party! So I'm looking forward to explore it in LBP instead!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Sure I'll play it!

It was really good! I like the 3d movement of it. However I quit it early because of lag, and its not your fault. It's a problem of the ps3 for not being able to handle lbp3's capabilities.

@CuriousSack, thank you and Boston is a beautiful city filled with crazy people! I should know xD.
@ Gurren 009, it was made on a ps4, and it experiences lag at random points. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY? Even during development I had to cut the city in half because the level was working fine and then it just broke and the level became unplayable. I did everything i could to save the level and I managed to get it to stabilize a lot. Thanks for playing the level, and thanks for coming back and leaving a review! It really helps me out a lot.

No problem! Anyways the lag's happening on the ps4 too? I really though lbp3 was next generation but I can't believe it can't handle your level. I remember in an interview( or some other information source) that the creators said you'd be able to create entire worlds in lbp3. This doesn't seem to be the case as there is still plenty of lag in some levels. By the way your level was great! I only reduced some points because of lag.2015-02-20 20:04:00

My experience with the level was seamless considering frame rate/lag. Though I had a problem when I ran under a carriage containing hay, because I died due to the space being too small which set me back to the first checkpoint which was some distance. It probably only happened to me as it's unlikely someone would try to run under there though I didn't purposely. And take note I was playing on PlayStation 4.

@ SEW097, I do apologize for that happening to you. I will try and fix it as soon as I find it! I made the level on a PS4 and I was under the impression that the PS3 version could handle it. All complaints about lag have come from PS3 users. I should make it console exclusive xD I put a lot of textures into the game which helped me create a more realistic environment. The city is so compressed that lag is sure to follow. I wanted to make the city feel dirty, and crowded by buildings. Thanks for the feedback! It helps me out more than you guys can imagine.
Have a great day everyone!

This is of interest to me, as I have been making a fairly large city environment with the infinite level settings.

Having experienced game freeze/loading when zipping about my set up in edit mode, I was thinking of ways to block the player off in areas if an area ahead hasn't loaded.

Can you elaborate on any choices you made in your level in planning the infinite level design.

Like did you use loading links, and pre-loaders?

Played this and its pretty decent on PS4, got a bit jerky toward the... markets section (?)... but certainly playable, and I have seen far worse lag/load stuff.

The docks did have a weird quirk, where standing int he front layer your sackperson seems to be crouching. I assume this is because of the way you are blocking forward movement.
