LittleBigPlanet 3 Patch 1.05

Archive: 31 posts

The latest patch for LittleBigPlanet 3 has arrived last week focusing on multiplayer connectivity and profile corruption problems. The big highlights of this patch is the new profile save functionality as a back up measure for profile corruption on the PlayStation 4.

Here are some fixes detailed in patch 1.05:

LittleBigPlanet 3
Game Update 1.05 Notes
February 10th 2015

Summary

LittleBigPlanet 3 Game Update 1.05 is scheduled to roll-out in the next few hours across all regions at around 12:05AM GMT on February 11th and includes a number of fixes to help improve game stability and remedy a number of issues raised by the community.

This includes introducing a new Save Profile system on PlayStation 4 to help prevent save profile corruption issues, fixing a number of multiplayer issues, making the Toggle character considerably more stable, removing a number of crash and game freeze issues and fixing an issue with the Masque Maker?s Tower level that could prevent Adventure progress.

PlayStation 4 Download Size: 495MB
PlayStation 3 Download Size: 110MB

Important Patch Download Information for PlayStation 4 Users

Due to the way that PlayStation 4 updates software in the background, some players are encountering issues with game progression by attempting to access content that is not ready to be used.

To avoid encountering issues, we recommend that you check your Download Status before starting LittleBigPlanet 3.
This can be achieved by highlighting LittleBigPlanet 3 on the PlayStation 4 Home Screen, pressing Options on your controller and selecting Information.

The following screen will inform you of your current download status.

If the Download Status displays that the Download Progress and Download Size are the same (E.g. 1.2GB/1.2GB), your game is ready to launch with all of the features available to you upon arriving in your Pod.

Update Notes 1.05

Major Updates ? PlayStation 4

New Save Profile Functionality to Prevent Save Profile Corruption Issues

LittleBigPlanet 3 Game Update 1.05 introduces new Save Profile functionality on PlayStation 4 that will create a new Save Profile type that is labelled ?<Username> LittleBigPlanet 3 Profile?.

This new system will run automatically in the background after installing the game update and will act as an extra layer of security to help prevent the save profile corruption issues that you may have been encountering.

Note: Whilst this new save profile format should help prevent you from losing any substantial progress. We would still recommend that to keep your save data extra-secure, you should still regularly back-up your ?<Username> LittleBigPlanet 3 Profile?, the new ?<Username> LittleBigPlanet 3? data and your Adventure/Popit Puzzles Profiles.

Full instructions on how to back-up your LittleBigPlanet 3 data are located here:

General

General Fixes

Fixed a game freeze issue that may occur if the player simultaneously attempts to delete and move a level on their Earth using both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of LittleBigPlanet 3 at the same time.
The game will no longer freeze if a player disconnects their Ethernet cable, re-connects it and attempts to join a Host Player multiple times.
The game will no longer become stuck on an infinite loading screen, if the host removes their Ethernet cable whilst a player is changing character.

Generally improved our multiplayer match-making functionality to help ensure successful connections with other players.
Fixed a multiplayer connection failure issue that may occur when a player accepts a Game Invite whilst in a level.
Fixed a multiplayer connection failure issue that may occur when attempting to join another player that is not a PSN Friend.

Players will no longer become disconnected from a multiplayer game session when attempting to join another player in the Ziggurat Grand Hall adventure level.
Attempting to simultaneously join a player of your own accord and accepting an invite to join them will no longer cause a failure message to appear in both instances.
Players will no longer get stuck on a loading screen if a network error occurs whilst trying to join a Pod that is already containing two or more players.

Fixed a ?Failed to Load Player Profile? error that may occur after completing the Ziggurat Titan.

Fixed an issue that would cause LittleBigPlanet 3 to become unresponsive after completing a Community Level.
Adventure ? Prologue ? The Introduction

The Introduction level will now load correctly when the player imports their LittleBigPlanet 2 Content during the first boot-up of LittleBigPlanet 3.
Players will no longer be forcibly terminated from this level if a network error occurs whilst multiple players are being matched to each other.

The Background will no longer disappear when a player joins a game in-progress in this level.
Adventure ? Prologue ? Stitchem Manor

The moving walls during the closing walls sequence will now correctly re-open for re-spawned players should they die multiple times during this sequence in a multiplayer game session.

Swoop will no longer get stuck in a tube in Cloud Caravan.
(We were too polite to ask Swoop if they have been dieting or if the tube was made wider.)
Adventure ? Bunkum Lagoon ? Even Bosses Wear Hats Sometimes

Fixed an issue during the Toggle sequence that would cause Little Toggle to be invisible and then permanently re-spawn as Sackboy upon death, making this sequence impossible to complete.

Popit Puzzles ? Popit Academy Term 1 & 2

Fixed a progression issue that may occur when a player joins a Popit Puzzle level as a tutorial level begins to play. Previously the tutorial would pause and all players would be unable to progress, this no longer occurs.

Well, for the PS3 version, I can safely say the patch didn't seem to help me much in terms of multiplayer connectivity. Still getting plenty of "Failed to load profile" errors; being sent back to an empty pod and receiving "Failed to retrieve game state from [self]" many times before I'm able to successfully join friends.

Strangely enough, the dive-in glitch seems to pair me up with complete random users just fine.

As for the PS4 version, can't really say much, as I lack PS+.

Overall, I guess I have been seeing less crashes in general at least . But deleting sackbots, and changing characters still seems to be quite problematic, with a high risk of causing the game to diverge .

The “Battle On The Ice” Music Track will now function correctly.

I can't understand why Sumo doesn't test their patches, is it so hard to give 10 people around the world the patch and a list what should be fixed, or are the people who test the patch guys who never played LBP before? Just frustrating to see what happend to that great game... Sorry...

I hated the new save system. It reverted my profile a bunch of times. Sure it saved me from an actual corruption, it got me to where I was like the prize from the story minus the stuffs I've got.

Which means I've also have to make sure I also include the new data if I was going to back up, otherwise it going to revert my profile if the new data isn't there in my hard disk.

I like the manual backups - if this was implement and works like the PS3 version, then it will be super convenient without getting to my computer and choosing what save data I wanted to load and putting them in a directory that the PS4 can load the data off the USB.

We are still investigating this particular multiplayer issue.

If you receive the "Failed to load user profile", would you mind taking a moment to answer the questions in the following thread to help us with our investigation?

I am happy to report that the game is generally more stable, and whereas before I could NEVER join anyone on a level, now I have a good chance. But, yeah, I would work on getting that feature working in its entirety.

And yes, the 'Battle on the Ice' music still doesn't work.

Who Were You Attempting to Connect with?
I've been attempting to connect to online players who are on my friends list.

Where in the game were you when attempting to Invite/Join the other player?
I was in the pod.

Which character were you playing as at the time?
I was just playing as Sackboy.

What occurred from the moment that you attempted to join/invite the other player until the moment you realised it wasn't working?
The game loads their pod just fine, I can see them and what they are doing, and then after 1 or 2 minutes of not spawning, the game will tell me that "A player failed to load my profile. I am sent back to my pod, but I do not spawn, and after a minute the game tells me it "failed to retrieve game state from [self]". The screen fades out, and returns me to my pod again, only to make me wait 5-6 minutes before I actually spawn.

Did you receive any error messages? Do you know if the other player received any error messages?
Nothing other than the errors mentioned above. As for my friend, they do not get an error message. All they see is "[Player] left."

Did this patch fix any of the ridiculously long loading times on PS3? Those made me quit the game for awhile. I don't know how to be patient enough to even PLAY a level, let alone create one.2015-02-20 02:28:00

So when are they going to fix the powerup animations that are obviously on the wrong hand? This severely limits what you can do with custom powerups.2015-02-20 05:56:00

I wholeheartedly agree with this! I've actually nearly fell asleep watching the loading screens while playing through Story Mode. To answer your question (I've tested it), no the load times have not been improved.

Can anyone confirm if the PS4 version has shorter load times?

I seriously wish they kept the in-Pod loading layout...

PS4 loads much faster, but there are sometimes infinite loading screens, too...
Same when starting and connecting to LBP-Servers, super fast compared to PS3...

Unfortuanately, I still can't play with other players. There are just to many bugs. Also, Sumo still hasn't fixed this one bug where red ! marks appear on some items in the popit. I've seen them on lights in the gadgets popit.2015-02-20 14:52:00

So apparently not even my manual backups are safe. For a long time I've been trying to ace and 100% each level. After I either ace or collect everything for a level, I instantly back up my data to PS+, a necessity brought on by the game occasionally bsing me by saying I did not actually do that every once in a while. If it happens, a simple delete and reupload fixes it.

Fast forward to post-this update times, not only does it say I don't have items far more frequently, but now I apparently can't even use my old save data. Loaded up LBP3, it has me not having items I've had for weeks now. Decide to reupload data from a couple of days ago. Exactly the same.

This isn't two steps forward, one step back like before. This is two steps forward, screw you I'm taking the floor away enjoy your stupid game you!

I just need the new save data (LBPxSAVExLITTLE) to be gone and left with just the original save (LBPxSAVE). Hope the next patch will not create a new save data (LBPxSAVExLITTLE) at all. This will deffo fix the revert and back to how the save system works before v1.05, but more stable so it doesn't corrupt occasionally.

Please, I needed the manual profile backup/import found in the PS3 version. This is a must because I can't just keep storing all the LBPxSAVE and it's bin file with it in different folders on my PC. Saving the profile backup in a 15mb data that contains; your progress, content, levels, created objects, everything. It must have slots so I can make as many different backups as I want without overwrite a single one like it was right now. The only backup system where I can save in different slots was the level backup.

I wanted to do the x4 Manglewood quest since I recently bought a white DS4 and my nethew will be helping. Untill the save data is sorted, I am not doing it right now...

Bugs
- There is a red ! on some items in the popit
- When levels load, I can't cancel them with circle
- Failed to load player profile is still an issue
- Sometimes I enter levels when the game hasn't even loaded the planet of the level

- - - - - - - - - -

By the way, I'm really sad for those who lost their entire save files. It takes so much time to gather up collectables from lbp1 and lbp2, and then all that is just instantly taken away from you. Is there anyway Sumo can recover save files?

I still can't get sounds effect from History and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" pack, even if I import everything from LBP2 to LBP3 after the patch arrives. And like everyone else, the online multiplayer still doesn't work sometimes, which still prevents me from trying to get to the 4x level.2015-02-21 02:26:00

The duration of the magic mouth voices now depend on the text of the mouth, so add some dots/underlines.

More Bugs
- My planet and moon reseted their decorations to default out of no where. I tried puting them back on, but they kept going back to default.
- I randomly entered a level just by having my select on it. I didn't press x or anything.
- Occasionally freezes and crashes

I really am not happy about playing through the old dlc to collect all the stuff. I'm looking for levels where players are giving it out for free. I feel like I deserve a one click button to receive ALL the stuff back just like the main game content but hey, that's just me.2015-02-21 19:38:00

That would be good. I say Sumo should give all dlc and story content to those who lost everything. That would be a good apology gift for the people who lost all their content. However only to those people who lost their content, so Sumo can still get money from lbp3.

This one is super-handy, as the CC pack is an absolute pain to play through again if you have no Vita. And better still, the prizes go into your Popit as per normal (and by that count, I assume you need to have bought the pack in LBP2 for the prizes to register).

I've encountered a new bug. After beating the game, I decided to collect some bubbles I missed in the mangle wood swam. I traveled to the upper right farthest, and then newton appeared, which is supposed to activate a cutscene. However, instead, the game turns the screen pure white, and the game freezes. The mangle swamp music still plays, and I can enter the ps menu. Is this is some error with Sumo Digital's level or what?

EDIT: This is not really that much of a bug but kind of annoyance. Everytime I load up lbp3 and select adventure, there is a short and temporary freeze in the game. Kind of annoying and I want Sumo to fix it, but if they don't have the time thats fine.

Thanks, I don't own a Vita so I never actually had all the items from this pack, and some of my levels use these items so I can't edit them. Now, I played this level and collected the goodies, but they still don't show up in my popit, and the pack isn't available in the store to unlock. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? (I do own the pack, is this level playable in LBP3 on PS3?)

It might be a NA vs EU thing perhaps? I found i could access the pack via the 'Find dlc used in this level' option that you sometimes get when you publish a level, you could try that?

Thank you so much, I checked out that guys levels earlier today and I got the few missing items from the first two worlds in the game. Would be great to get the items from the third world as well though. Let me know if you find any levels like this for the dlc stuff.
