I've spent some time 'studying' the mgs turrets to answer the same thing.
The turret, make whatever you want, leave space for impact (easyer to set up) explosive. set up paintinator swich on ONE SHOT to protected creature brain.
Cut circle out from turret. Place bomb in circle DO NOT OVER-ENLARGE OR GLUE. Place inverted mag swich on bomb, and mag key on turret. connect mag swich to bomb.
Playmode + Test.
Should be working fine, that's how i make mine work.

Yep - that's the way to do it alright. They key is (as DRT99 said), don't glue or attach the explosives in any way to the rest of the turret construction. This way, when the brain is triggered and the turret destroyed, the explosives are not destroyed... but the mag key is, so the mag switch is then triggered, and BOOM!

Thank you Vortex.
I have to remember to add WHY things happen when I answer posts, because reading those was what really helped me.

Yeah, no problem... I actually debated about making that post cuz I didn't want to step on anyone's toes. I eventually decided the clarification might really help.

Hehe - I got your message on the PSN and made a video tutorial that I am in the process of uploading to YouTube right now. Funny thing is, I thought you were still having trouble with the explosives, so that is the focus of the video. My creature(s) were already made up in advance.

Anyway... to destroy the brain (and this will work with protected or unprotected brains) set your switch to One-Shot. Doesn't matter what kind of switch it is: paintinator, mag-key, button... it must be set to One-Shot.

Video will be posted soon, if you're still interested in the explosives insertion method described above. And here it is:

I find it easier to use impact explosives, because the circles are easier to use and take up less space, and you don't have to deal with the rectangleness of the trigger explosives.2009-03-06 01:00:00

Personal preference, I guess. I just never thought to use them. They are so touchy though - have you ever had your creature(s) just blow up from some external impact? (I guess that would be my concern with the impact explosives). But if you find them easier to work with, then it's all good!

For what it's worth though - a rectangle is 4 edit points. Circles typically have dozens. If you're doing a lot of this in your level and you're worried about thermometer... just sayin'

yes, you're absolutely right. And i just figured out, impact explosives might be too sensetive.
I was playing act 3 again (Need inspiration) And I got behind the two tanks, jumped up behind the turret, jumped up and shot down a few times. Next think I knew there was a big chunk missing from the tank and I was 'splodered.
So it's also kinda funny: I jumped in the tank (cuz theres a big hole in it) and shot the other tank from inside the second tank. Look at the pics for act3, i tried to upload some.
