Are there any thoughts of adding a chatroom to the forum or even a shoutbox? Is there a chatroom already that I don't know about? (first day here)

Thoughts are normally harder to moderate and takes discussion away from the forum. I don't know, I've owned a lot of web sites before and adding a chat really ramps up your user activity. I understand what you're saying, but this would give people more reason to stay for a bit instead of making a post/reply and leaving.

YES!!! A shoutbox would make this site awesome(r). Sackinima has one and it works great. Imagine that with like a million more users...

We actually did have a facebook-esque chat a long time ago. Where, there wasn't a general chat but you could start a private chat with anyone on your friends list. It was removed due to being too server heavy or something. The reasoning we don't have one is because it'd be spammy and hard to moderate and divert posts from the forums, but IDK. I wouldn't vte against it.

It isn't on my top 20 list, but I am not totally against it. The biggest issue I see is the amount of people possibly chatting at once and the server load. The one we had was a bit too server intensive. There wasn't just one big chat room. It was a bit more like facebook chat where you could have several going with whoever is on your friends list. Ended up grinding the forum to a halt.

The one we had was a bit too server intensive. Well if it was a IRC base code it should have little threshold on the server. This is the one I used for my sites. It's cheap, customizable, and runs off it's own server http://www.cbox.ws but it was just an idea. I've only been here for a few days, not my intention to be a home-wrecker
