Running up walls and upside down with sackboy?

Archive: 10 posts

I have been working on this project for many days now, I just can't figure it out. I want to be able to run at a curved wall, turn sideways, and run up the wall, even if it goes upside down.

A perfect example of this is in the story mode on the map where you have to use all 3 characters to rescue sackboy. When you use odd sock, there is a green blinky material they use. When you jump on it, you're unable to control your speed, but it can bend up walls and such and go upside down. Could this be possible with sackboy?

This can be seen in this video at 4:40 (contains spoilers)

An alternative to this would be able to jump up and land on a material upside down, while flipping the character in the transition, like seen in this video at 0:58

I have worked hard on this and tried everything I could think of. Using controlled sackbots with move/animation chips, force chips and wind (push and pull), and gravity, but nothing is getting the results I'm looking for. And yes, I know what attract-o-gel is, but the muppets DLC hasn't been added yet so I can't buy it. Anyone have any Ideas? Maybe I had the right idea using the sackbot clones with animation chips?

Is the attract-o- tweaker in your tools? I never bought the cross controller pack but I have the portals now. I actually don't know if the attract-o-tweaker is in my own tools. I haven't tried to use it yet.2014-12-11 14:54:00

I remember Slaedon bob made one way before the Move pack came out. It was for the LBPC1 contest. I have no clue how he did it though. Maybe he had the room rotate around or the camera turn or something. Look in the LBP2 tutorials section. Something might be in there.2014-12-11 18:00:00

I've never heard of such a thing. But I'll look into it for sure. Wait, are you talking about a force chip?

Didn't even think to look in the LBP2 section. I didn't consider it being possible without the animation chip. And is this bob person on the forum? I will hunt him down either way >_>

For most levels it's attract-o-gel which was part of the Muppets DLC. I just bought the DLC because it finally showed up in the NA Store again, but I don't have any tweakers for it (I'm wondering if LBP2 captured objects which have the tweaker could be used?). It was interesting because I just bought the DC level pack as well and I now have the wall jump tweaker and hero cape. But no attract-o-tweaker.

There's other more complicated ways of doing similar effects with sackbots (pre-Muppets pack) and now with broadcaster chips in LBP3.

I'm on a ps3, if I buy that DLC can I actually use it or does it not work like some of the other DLCs yet?

I just bought it and it seems like it doesn't work (I'm able to play through the levels, but I don't have any new tweakers), but I've seen LBP3 levels use it so I suspect that people have captured objects from LBP2 with the tweaker and use it that way (you'll need the DLC to use captured objects with the tweaker I'm sure). If you have LBP2 lying around that might be an option for you.

Please do not share info gotten from hacking the game as that is against the EULA. Sorry!!2014-12-11 19:02:00

When implementing custom movement just use a broadcast chip set to touch mode. You can then attach movers and gameplay tweakers to the circuit board to modify movement and movement speed of the player when they're touching the material. Oddsock is a special case because as long as he's moving fast enough he'll stay attached to his platform. Other characters don't have this.

Edit: Removed discussion of info against EULA
