Mirroring Character Animations?

| Certain animations have a handedness to them, in particular Sackboy's slow walk is right-facing. I'm aware that using character rotation can kiiiiind of reflect this into a left-facing walk, but it's really not quite the same (his head is rotated in the animation, but his body isn't, so the "reflected" result is quite strange). | I was going to ask this same question earlier today around the same time you posted this! Glad you did, I got too busy in BigBigPlanet. I was wishing the sword thrust animations could be used with costume swords, but alas they are wrong handed. Perhaps they came from a discarded power up idea? It does seem strange to have so many "right" animations unless they have an easy mirroring toggle when using them internally in game. After looking around, I'm left thinking that they gave us every animation clip they had (awesome!) but then rushed development of the tweaker gadget and didn't have time to add a mirroring feature accessible to us. (Bummer!) A lot of Create features have felt unpolished like that, so perhaps they will be adding refinements in future patches. | 2014-12-11 08:45:00 Author: LittleBigDave  Posts: 324 |
This isn't a fix for most asymmetric animations, but in my particular case, I managed to create a decent replication of a left-facing slow walk using the Walk 180 Turn from Additional Animations/Sackboy:Miscellaneous frozen at 0.36 s and overlayed completely with the original. It's not perfect, but it's reasonably close. Just in case anyone is having that exact problem  . Also I agree LittleBigDave, if this indeed isn't possible, I really hope it comes in a future update.
