Expectations are too high

Archive: 24 posts

Can you believe how hard the last two story levels are? They are nearly impossible to ace. The death traps are ambient and they come in too quick. And they expect you to ace the levels.

Personally, I think the last boss is much harder than Jumpsanity, and certainly it's harder than the Negativitron. Why SD? Why did you make this level extremely hard?

Hmm I wouldn't say it's ridiculously hard.... The only part I find a little irritating is the section of the boss fight with swoop - it seems like the channel he has to take switches every now and again, so learning it via muscle memory is pretty useless. Sure, I died a heck of a lot on my first playthrough, but I'd prefer a boss that challenges me over one that I can defeat in five minutes.

Sucks that you're having this hard a time though. Didn't you ever get this in other LBP games? There's plenty of levels that are infamous for it

Huh. That's odd, because I found Swoop's to be the easiest, though fun to dive-bomb for so long. The ones that gave me the most issues were Toggle's and Sackboy's. Mostly due to that dang spinning spikey wall with the jump-pad.

I also thought all the levels were always the same through each playthrough. Even when I kept playing Toggle's part, the teeth always kept the same pattern after I restarted.

But yes! A challenging boss is a ton more fun than one that you can beat easily. Granted... The main boss, this go-around, didn't feel much like a boss. I get what they were going for, but it didn't have that boss feel. Though perhaps the change from what I'd expect from a boss fight may be a good thing.

PS: *cough* The Bunker *cough*

When standing on the pad equip the Boost Boots. Then hit X, R1. Works every time.

hehe, it's possibly because as much as I love swoop, i truly suck at the controls for it

While these levels were somewhat difficult, I felt that there was more difficulty in the Negativitron boss, and especially the Bunker.2014-12-09 12:10:00

I had already aced it, but it was just an annoying part for me. I didn't use the boost boots though. I guess I was too much in a hurry. lol

I'm fairly sure that has to do with that one being the first in the series. Either people were still fairly new to the movement of Sackboy, and/or the stages weren't as well planned as they could have been due to the devs making a new game; though they were still great.

I think the boss was not too hard to ace this time, but I think it's unfair to get "good" prices for acing, people who can't ace it will never get those things, would be better if there would only be a useless sticker as price, good for those who want to have 100% of all price bubbles, but not "neccessary" for creating...

For me the vita story mode was much harder, and the bunker, good memories ^^

Now this may be shocking, but I actually thought the "wheel of death" in LBP1 wasn't as bad as the final boss battle in LBP3.

I just aced the last level, but I still think it's a bad idea to make games this hard when targeting children to play this game. I can understand your opinions, but this is how I feel.

LBP has always been a game of tranquillity and peace, but oh my god that **** spinning spike during Sackboy's part of the last level was a nightmare! I get you can use the boost boots, but it' has to be a slight design issue... it's a stupid death after getting passed the Toggle bit, which I still find hard to do 2014-12-09 18:13:00

I found the final boss fairly easy to ace, but The Great Escape is too goshdarn hard for me.2014-12-09 21:22:00

Why is everyone having trouble with the Sackboy part? I found it fine.

The hardest part for me was easily Toggle, just because of the part just after you put the second bomb in the titan's mouth. How I managed to dodge rolling spikes from the front while also avoiding smashing teeth in my layer I will never know...

Have to agree with you here. Too much precision to be fun, unlike the final boss, which had at least some leeway.

Couldn't agree more. I don't even want to think about how many hours of frustration I've wasted trying to Ace this level. Swoop is easiest for me, and the first and last two are about equally as difficult. I'm just about ready to say screw it and not even check to see what collectable I'll be missing out on. There's a few levels like this in several DLC's and the first two games for me as well. If it's just a sticker, I don't much care about not getting it... but when it's something more useful like a costume piece, deco, object, material... I just feel ripped off because there's no 'normal mode' in this game. :/2014-12-10 05:38:00

That part was easy too. Just staying on the right pretty much solved it. You only have to pay attention to like... I believe one falling tooth and two of the spikes. My real issues with Toggle's part was that it was really dark in the shadows of the pieces that were coming towards you, so I couldn't keep track of Toggle, especially when he was small.

It's actually Newton's father's costume, a bird to unlock some things from the introduction stage (The very very VERY first stage) and a waterfall deco. As far as useful goes, that's so-so. Unless you plan to make a level with Newton's father in it, or have need to use a deco for a waterfall, rather than just making one yourself.

The Bunker >>> LBP2 Bomb level >>> Some levels of the MoveDLC >>>> LBP2 Boss >>>>>>>>>>>> LBP3 Boss >> The Great Escape

imo the Oddsock part was the easiest in the last boss. I never died with Toggle or Sackboy during my tries to acing it.
And I'm happy that the rewards are good. Nothing was more frustrating than acing the Move levels and get nothing for that.. Only useless stickers...

I think if we go back we'll find a lengthy thread on how LBP2 finale was too easy. I pity the devs who's job it is to please us.

Personally i am always a little bummed when there are no more prize bubbles left to collect. So i really appreciate that they made these final levels easy enough to complete, but challenging to ace. And i am glad there are decent prizes to reward you for all the effort. I find short bouts attempting them in between other pursuits made mastering them fairly enjoyable.

Fixed!

I see your point, but I aim for the achievements in general. I'm still proud of myself for getting all of the Move Pack pins. I totally forgot how many attempts it took me, but I got it done well.

I think LBP games perhaps should have different difficulty settings, adventure mode 'AKA easy mode 'and challenge mode 'AKA hard mode'. would be fairly easy to set up with logic even in our own levels... especially because of the memory tools. People who want a challenge could simply play challenge mode and maybe even get rewarded special pins for it. While people who want a more relaxed adventure could play adventure mode instead. *mew

I try to put that in my levels. In fact, before you suggested, I worked on difficulty as a feature when I made one of my platformers. I should do that more.

I think Toggle's section was the hardest for me, the others are fairly easy, apart from this occasional glitch in Sackboy's section where I will zoom out of the first velociporter and not be able to attach the hook hat.2014-12-10 07:40:00

The most difficult part in the final boss was Swoop's section for me. It seemed like those yellow acid balls were inconsistently placed whenever I played. Swoop had the most difficult section in The Great Escape as well, imo. Those blasted spinning blades. Funnily enough, twice as I was trying to ace The Great Escape, I would get stuck INSIDE the blades as Swoop. They didn't kill me. I had to pop, however. Pretty weird.2014-12-15 20:48:00

A chicken sticker.

Which can be used to unlock stuff in the Introduction level.

If you follow where the score bubbles are, you will never get hit; ASSUMING, you are in rhythm with the level, which is if you avoid the err... (Pillars/obstacles that close off the level behind you?) and keep R1 held the entire time.
