LBPC History?

Archive: 28 posts

I am just curious if anyone knows some background history for the LBP fan sites. Who is the owner of LBPC? And when was it created? There must have been a core group of members in the beginning?2014-12-07 20:08:00

Oh boy, oh boy! This topic was made for me!

K, so, look at my join date. I have been here over 6 years. This place is my home.

It was founded by some guy who made it in 2007, but it didn't really gain traction until 2008 when ConfusedCartman signed up. He was the first mod and within one month became an admin, eventually phasing out the original guy after he published an article detailing LBP that was o kotaku and whatever. Also, he was 15 when this happened.

ConfusedCartman eventually retired to become LBP Karting's community manager and gave the keys to warlord evil, who gave the keys to Taffey who gave the keys to jwwphotos, who is the current admin of this forum. I'm pretty sure he owns it and pays for it out of his pocket. Not sure if Taffey still helps apy, but jww is the one who really runs the show now.

Any more questions?

Thanks Rock, chief historian of all things LBPC.

Although I do currently Admin the site, it is not me funding it. It is still Taffey along with many generous contributions from our members.

Of course, there is also the more "popular" history of LBPC, but that would take me down memory lane...2014-12-07 20:30:00

Wow that's amazing. Six years passes by pretty quick doesn't it? It's interesting to hear about the history but I got curious about your own experience. How did you find LBPC? How does it feel to have written over 10,000 posts? You surely must have helped tons of people during your time. What do you think will happen in the future?2014-12-07 20:31:00

Will jwwphotos retire as well and give the key to another person?

I was on gamefaqs when someone linked to their fansite. It wasn't active, so I googled another one and got here and was stuck here for six years.

Having over 10,000 posts makes me feel like... uh... I have over 10,000 posts

I have helped tons of people, yes. Mostly by giving them peanuts.

In the future, I predict I won't ever, ever, leave.

Jww may retire. Maybe. Idk. If he does, the keys to the kingdom should go to me. I would enact a new age of tyranny unlike anything you've ever seen before.

If you know anything about the LBPC history, please share it on this thread. I would like to hear it

I did surpass you... a while ago. then you surpassed me

But you being active in LBP stuff and all your mod/admin stuff, it's to be expected.

First Generation?

Please.
You and I were calibrated differently. My first generation could be your last your third.
Remember when strikethrough text was a thing?
And white hidden text also was?

It still is a thin.

And no, you are not first generation. Not now, not ever.

2011 here. I am a pleb compared to most people in this thread, but the history of this forum I think is safe to say is much deeper and vast than any other LBP fansite out there. I doubt there is a whole summary to the whole history unless we're talking about the owners like Rawk said. 2014-12-07 23:26:00

The true first generation got in before the August 2008 membership surge now there's nothing left but dead accounts and topics that may one day be necro'd just to confuse us.

Second generation is almost extinct but there's a small group that are regulars.

You can blame the early members for the forum games sub-forum and its lack of xp generation. We used the games to gain xp quicker so we could buy profile upgrades from the old store. Some of us even ended up with negative xp when the change happened because points we had spent were being deducted from the total.

I read somewhere that jwwphotos' rise to power was rife with backstabbings, dodgy deals, illegal wrongdoings, corrupt political shenanigans, and even murder.

Wait.... or am I thinking of House of Cards?

Yeah, I'm definitely thinking of House of Cards. Nevermind, carry on folks!

Fixed that for you.

Actually, I just wrestled the remote control out of Taffey's hands. lol

Hmmm after reading all this I think someone needs to make a documentary on the LBPC history. Maybe a movie or something, it would be awesome 2014-12-08 13:22:00

Look through some old (really old) Community Spotlight threads to see some of the original greats at work. OCK, Gevurah22, QuozL, Aer0blue and many others were already "old school" when I first poked my head into LBPC for the first time.

So many friends, some gone, some still lurking.

6 years.... where has the time gone!

I joined this site pretty late... Anyway I've been around here quite a long time, almost 5 years I believe. At first I must have had around 13 years lol... And yeah I still recognize some old faces around here, like the Peanut Lord or Morgana Now that I think so... What is of ConfusedCartman? Anyway, the first year I was quite active, then I vanished for two years and I've been here for another two. I'm really fond of this site and I'm sure it will always be one of the very best fansites as long as the franchise and its community thrive 2014-12-08 15:58:00

LBPC The Game 2

And therefore, GDN had given himself a reason to get banned after four years.

Wait, if Taffey still pays the bills, does that mean he could technically fire jww at will and has complete control of us?2014-12-10 00:39:00

lol... You'd love that wouldn't you?

No no... Taffey and I are quite good friends and it would never come to that. FWIW, I am going to join him in paying the expenses come 2015 to help make it more fair. ...though I do all his work... hmmm... wait a minute!

Regardless, by now he would have to ask me how to pull the plug on myself.
