A separate follower for each character
Archive: 4 posts
Hello, how can I make four different players have their own controllinator each? Here are my needs: I want up to four different players to have their own controllinator following them constantly. I want Sackboy in use. They shouldn't have to enter the controllinator because I don't want to use sackbots. When someone dies and respawns their original controllinator should return to them. If two players get close I don't want both controllinators to start following one player and leave the other behind. I want four controllinators ready in case someone joins midway through the game, then their waiting controllinator starts following them. I guess I need tags here somehow and maybe the broadcast chip but I just don't know how this works. Any ideas? Many thanks | 2014-12-06 20:16:00 Author: aratiatia Posts: 374 |
Currently I use four checkpoints, each set to allow only one team (each team is a player: red is player one, blue is player 2, etc.) There is a tag on the checkpoint that essentially says "You're playerX" and a broadcast chip reads it and activates a tag that says, "Ok, I'm playerX" and locks so that it can't change if it detects and other tag. Then I just create the follower tech normally. I'm wondering, however, if there might be a better way. I checked out a blink ball in create mode after another creator pointed out that it uses interesting tech, and it turns out the battery can be set to a color, but it can also be set to player color. It does this so it knows which player to teleport. I haven't done any experiments yet, but I'm wondering if something similar can be done to make a follower belong to a particular player. | 2014-12-06 20:27:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
Thanks. I dabbled with four team checkpoints and the second one always had weird issues with logic. A friend showed me how the broadcast chip can work last night and that might actually suit my needs in a simpler way. | 2014-12-07 23:00:00 Author: aratiatia Posts: 374 |
Oh, duh. It didn't even occur to me that the follower was only for logic. Yeah, a broadcast chip would be perfect for that. Sorry, I had thought you wanted something else on the follower along with the controllinator (a weapon or something), and that's why you needed the follower. | 2014-12-08 00:32:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
