Anyone know what the Material Port does? It's where a wire from a switch goes if you try to place it on a material, such as a square of cardboard. So far the only thing I've seen it do is turn my material black when a switch is set one way and show the normal material when the switch is set the other way.

Depends on the material. Majority of cases it's for controlling animation of the material. When you tweak the material after connecting a wire there should be new sections in the tweak menu to set things like animation speed when off/on, etc. Everything should be clear when tweaking the material in question.

It works like the light objects in the game. Turning in on turns it one color, default being normal color, turning it off turns it another, default being black. - - - - - - - - - - Or animations...

If it's turning black, I would mostly guess that to be a light percentage thing. But I wasn't aware that cardboard has those options. I know there's a cardboard that does, but I didn't know the Basic Cardboard did. Which cardboard are you referring to, because there are a lot of them.
