Bring Back the Dive In feature

Archive: 18 posts

Within playing the game i right away noticed that Sumo has not implemented the famous "Dive In" feature in the Community

category , and thinking about it , I really feel as if most of the online experience has been taken away from the littlebigplanet

community , because most of the time players in LBP 2 and LBP 1 would use this feature (except that in LBP 1 it was known as

Quick Play) and I strongly suggest that Sumo Digital re-implements this great feature into LBP 3 for better and greater online

experience.

Dive in is how I met my first PSN friend and the reason I kept playing the game. Without it I would have never never played the game more for than a few days. Also without the cool pages it's impossible to find levels to play from within the game. Also it provides less incentive to make levels as no one seems to be able to find them, especially if you are an unknown creator. The lucky dip was a step backwards and having nothing is even worse.2014-12-05 01:11:00

Don't you work for them? So, can't you use your influence to get them to patch this in?

Just make sure you can opt in and out

Wait, theres no Dive In on LBP3? How are you supposed to meet people and make friends?!

Having friends is like 3/5ths of the LBP experience, not being able to randomly meet people is uber dumb.

It's up to the community to feedback on the systems in place.2014-12-05 01:23:00

I agree 100%

One of the few things that I found legitimately disappointing with LBP3.

Really hope they add it back.

Well I guess that means we should voice the opinions on these choices even more.

Which I am all for the Dive In feature.

I honestly can't see any other way for my LBP3 levels to get plays. If they bring these two community features back, I think that LBP3 will become perfect. But as for the dive in, if you really want new friends there's always the option to join others while loading a community level. I found the majority of my friends that way. The sad thing about dive in was that it locked out worldwide players and you could only join players within your own region, or close to your region...2014-12-05 14:02:00

Two suggestions... the LBPC Level Showcase and use the F4F feature and do it pro-actively. Second... there is always the Find Other Happy Gadders forum.

The thing is... I have used these two ways before and not just in LBPC, but on all other fan sites as well. This gained my level about 150 plays and that was when the cool pages was still around. Now lets say that I publish a versus level in LBP3, I expect it to get at least 1000 plays (based on my previous knowledge of this system) but the only problem is that there's no cool pages... What does this mean, you ask?

Well, my level wont get any hot traffic because plays gathered from fan sites can take hours to build up into a bigger number, and when that number is reached the level is often dead. To even have a chance on getting to the major lists in LBP3 your level has to get thousands of likes and hearts but that is nearly impossible without any cool pages, lucky dip, or any other similar list. You can then say that plays and hearts doesn't matter, only legit criticism does. To get an enjoyable feeling when publishing a versus level, you expect traffic, and a lot of plays, not just useful criticism, that part is also important but it's not the same with pure fun versus levels.

I've always found hard work pays off. The only way to achieve what you desire is to get much much better as a creator. Using F4F and doing it correctly can get you not only a ton of plays, but feedback. That is how many of the most well known creators and fan favorites got there start. So yeah.. you can think whatever you want, but the only thing that put most people in gear to a new level is amazing skills.2014-12-06 21:08:00

I too wish the dive in was a feature in LBP3, but I would like for it to dive into a level unlike LBP2 towards today where it just goes to people's pods it seems.2014-12-06 21:09:00

I also want the feature back. Make it an option for those who don't want it back. Everyone is then happy. Why not make everyone happy?2014-12-07 18:21:00

I'm definitely in favor of bringing back the Dive-in feature, as it's how I've met the majority of my friends on PSN. As for the Cool Pages, not so much.. While the Cool Pages sometimes had legit levels, it was often filled with spam garbage from a bunch of egotists. There's a reason why Sumo got rid of the Cool Pages, and I just feel it needs to stay like this.2014-12-07 18:50:00

I agree with Kur0 on the Cool Pages subject. The Cool Pages were garbage and they were filled up with terrible levels that took players from players who spent time making real levels. I'm happy they removed Cool Pages. But they NEED to put the LBP2-style search system into the game. I don't know why it wasn't put in lol. I cant find anything without it.

As for the Dive-In? Yes I want it back. But like someone previously said, I want it to be like LBP1's Quick Play. I could just press the button and I'm in a random level. I reeeaally want that back.

It's probably best they haven't added it back yet.

So many people would be disappointed when the game fails to join them. Once that is fixed, then they might add it

But I'm all about the Dive In feature. I was sad when I couldn't find it
