LittleBigPlanet: Reimagination - A Community Reimagining of LBP1

Archive: 10 posts

So, I know I don't post much on here, but i'd like to propose a community project I've been planning since LBP3's announcement, called: 'LittleBigPlanet: Reimagination'.

About LittleBigPlanet: Reimagination
Short and to-the-point, LittleBigPlant: Reimagination is a community project where we'll remake LittleBigPlanet 1's Story Mode with LittleBigPlanet 3's gameplay and mechanics (16 Layers, the new characters, etc.), while retaining the same visual style LBP1 is known for.

Differences
Aside from the aforementioned use of LittleBigPlanet 3's Gameplay and Mechanics, there might be some new content, such as new layouts, side-levels and maybe even the Four Lost Worlds (English Seaside, American Midwest Train, Japanese Window and Russian Theatre) as imagined by the community, but it'll depend on how the project goes.

Signups
I'm currently looking for level designers, artists, someone to voice the narrator (to compensate for the lack of Stephen Fry) and maybe someone to help with the visuals of the Adventure Maps, so if you're interested, please let me know via PM, Twitter or PSN and I'll consider adding you, based on what role you'd like to have. If you get in, you'll receive a friend request from both me and the 'LBPReimagination' PSN account. In order to sign up though, you must keep the following in mind.

1. A PS4 System with LBP3 (and a PS Plus subscription, for co-create with other players in the project) will be required.
2. You must must have played LBP1 at least once. The reason I say this is because if you have, when you play LBP3 on PS4, you can get instant access to everything that LBP1 had.
3. A decent microphone is required if you're applying for the role of the narrator.
4. Absolutely no copiers, spammers, etc. are allowed in the project, regardless of whether they've stopped copying.

Once the project is done, all the levels will be put into Adventure Maps based on the 8 (12 if we go through with the Lost Worlds idea) worlds. Said maps will then be published onto a PSN called 'LBPReimagination'. With all that said, hope to see you on the project.

That first requirement; read the first four letters, and then automatically stopped. lol

Sucks that you're limiting it to just the PS4 players though. It definitely sounds interesting.

This is a big project. You're gonna need some determination to hit it off with something like this. However, if you're able to do it, I'm excited to see this come to fruition.2014-12-03 05:30:00

I've seen this kind of thing done many times. I love when people go back to classic themes and make their own levels on them.

Make sure you study the styles used in those old levels and use them correctly!

Sounds interesting. I might be up for making a side level/ mini game, but I do not have a ps4. What's your time frame?2014-12-03 23:50:00

I absolutly love lbp1, I actually think that the story mode is better than both lbp2 and lbp3 so if you could make it even better that would be great! Lbp with improved visuals would be the ultimate lbp2014-12-04 00:41:00

This project is perhaps overly ambitious considering its prospective workforce (volunteers, many of which that have probably never worked together before).

I don't mean to put a downer on things, but segmenting this project into smaller, individual phases might be a better idea. Maybe select a single level to replicate as a sort of proof of concept and so forth, as your first project, and then step things up a bit and try to replicate a much larger portion of the game at once.

I'm not a level creator, but I have some training in project management from the perspective of video game design and software development. Generally it's very difficult to get things to come together when there's not much of an incentive there (eg. a wage), as everyone helping would be doing so on a voluntary basis it may be wiser to attempt this in incremental phases, with a smaller then gradually larger team.

Perhaps try building the first level or something with a small group first? then you could use that as a technical demonstration of what you're trying to achieve. You'd probably get more people on board that way.

This is just my advice though, best of luck whatever you decide!

This is a very huge project indeed but and if you need help I might be able to help. I am currently busy for a time in LBP3 due to story mode and I have some levels to create as well. But my specialties is logic and gameplay, I know how to make good visual looking levels but my published levels doesn't show that side of me. I wish you good luck and I look forward to see it being published.2014-12-04 07:34:00
