I love Metroid so I am building a game which is in all respects Metroid, a 2d shooting platformer, contained within a huge maze with upgrade elements to allow access to different areas, at the same time gameplay being difficult and frusting and an atmosphere that makes you feel alone... I am hoping there are fans of the game that hang around here, your approval in how I craft this would be apprieciated! I thought I would start a thread to keep me motivated to finish.

I have begun work and have a decent amount done for the short time I have been working on this, I am using the dynamic thermo but ahaha still seem to be having issues with the thermo filling up! Here's an upload of the amount of level I have made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kj3wq6RvD0

Thank you! That's always good to hear I will try extra hard, so here's hoping I can make a decent game. It's a fairly large scale enviroment and I am having problems with the thermo, so if I can get around this issue should be good as I have no shortage of ideas.

So I have noticed that the dynamic thermo, doesn't like emitted things. Adding those emitted things is trouble and with take up 10 fold of what they normally would just being there. Only problem is that emitters are very convenient, for spawning enemies, bullets etc.

In Metroid enemies return if you leave a room and return to that room, its tradition! So I built a enemy respawn concept video below

This basically respawns an enemy without it being destroyed! By using the new tools of transparency and un collisioning objects. I also have adapted this to the doors and break blocks. Another concern is the spawning of the character, that would take a lot of space.

Hey cheers! Would love to see it happen.

I have built quite a bit so far going well, about 1/3 of the original metroid game in level size. Although it's not a remake, im doing my own thing, more of a metroid inspired game as of recent.

I totally adore the work you ve done in western sack and a lot more that in the unacceptably underplayed strange chasm. You sure know your way around story, humor and gameplay and how to fine tune it so I am sure you will do a great job on this as well. And obviously I am fan of Metroid as I played to death the majority of them.

Hopefully you will reveal to us some of your secrets or findings during the development.
I am not saying good luck because you will not need it.

Hearing that bought a tear to the eye thankyou very much! Yes strange chasm is very low plays 10 I think haha, but I never pushed it as it actually isn't finish and is lacking some much needed polish, and in lbp3 it doesnt work so I had to lock it .

Glad to hear your a metroid fan I've actually only played the old games I know that it kept going after super metroid.

Lbp3 is a awesome creation tool, the new tools allow you to program properly with floating properties magic!

Sounds good, lets see what you come up with, I would really prefer emitters, so much less work.
