Have you watched every possible movie you can think of? Bored of watching Finding Nemo for the 47th time? Think that you have the best movies ever? Got nothing better to do? Then this is the thread for you! In this thread, I, and the people of this wondrous community will post our movies and TV shows, for everyone else to browse. All you have have to do is post your choice of a great movie and/or TV show, then I shall post it here in the main post, so everyone can browse the great movie/TV show selection! I shall post you name along with you selection, and, if you add it, a short description of the movie. But, remember this simple rule: 1. Try to read every post, so you don't post an already posted movie/TV show. So with no further ado, heres the list, that I shall start: Movies CogSpartan: Saving Private Ryan ~ A war epic about a group of soldiers fighting through German infested land to save the son of a women who has already lost three other sons. CogSpartan: Wanted ~ A man discovers that he has a special talent to kill, and joins a fraternity of assassins, and hunts his fathers killer. CogSpartan: Gran Turino ~ An old man who lives on a peaceful street has to deal with a local gang, terrorizing his nice neighbors. CogSpartan: Mr. and Mrs. Smith ~ A husband and wife, who are both trained killers, learn that they must kill each other. CogSpartan: The Island ~ A man who lives in a large community, discovers that he is a clone. He and his friend try to escape the facility and find himself - the real him. CogSpartan: Cloverfield ~ A small group of friends try to escape Manhattan, as it is attacked by a massive monster. CogSpartan: Dirty Harry ~ A cop, who is great at his job, must work with his new apprentice to stop a killer. CogSpartan: Interstella 5555 ~ A magically fantastic music video for the band Daft Punk, that is comprised of many of their greatest songs. A group of aliens are abducted and turned into humans, and their only hope is a hero from their world. LittleBigGiant: The Green Mile ~ A 7-foot-tall black man is sent to prison for raping two young white girls. But he has extraordinary healing powers, he cures a urinary tract infection, resurrects a mouse, and heals the terminally ill wife of the warden on the prison. Its a great movie nominated for 4 Academy Awards. And stars Tom Hanks. Dynashock: The Butterfly Effect ~ A young man blocks out harmful memories of significant events of his life. As he grows up, he finds a way to remember these lost memories and a supernatural way to alter his life. [I]Teebonesy: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind ~ What can i possibly say about this movie. It's easily one of the greatest films of the decade. One of my favorite of all time. A trip deep into dreams and memories, funny and honest and achingly sad. Teebonesy: Brazil ~ the greatest film by Terry Gilliam, who's one of the most visionary directors of all time. One of the best films ever made (for my money). A surreal version of today, that takes place in tomorrow-yesterday, is so full of detail and amazing ideas that it's impossible to get sick of. Teebonesy: Half Nelson ~ Along with Eternal Sunshine, I think this is one of the best films to come out of the 2000s. Not enough people saw it - it stars Ryan Gosling as a Brooklyn teacher with a problem. Go find this movie. Teebonesy: Blue Velvet ~ An over-the-top American suburban nightmare. Best performance anyone's ever gotten out of Dennis Hopper. Teebonesy: The Fountain ~ Gorgeous movie, not the best dialogue I've seen, but I forgive all the movie's many faults for being one of the most deliriously immersive dream films I've ever seen. It's a simple movie to grasp thematically, but the story is layered and interpretive. Teebonesy: Synecdoche, New York ~ Incredibly, incredibly dark drama-comedy about the life of a playwright/theater director. The movie is told from a painfully internal, personal, private, at-times uncomfortably intimate perspective - we're literally inside the mind of the protagonist, through the entire film, with no breather. There's no voice over explaining things. There's no text on screen letting you know where or when you are. You're inside this guy's mind, and you live his dreams and nightmares, you tumble through his entire life from inside the deepest parts of his mind. Like The Fountain, it's incredibly immersive. But if you're not down for the ride, you're likely going to hate it. Boomy: Shawshank Redemption ~ nuff said. mrjoeyman: Martian Child ~ A really great movie starring John Cusack and his sister Joan Cusack. It stars a child actor named Bobby Coleman that blows the doors off any performance I have ever seen from a kid. I figured I wouldn't like this movie after reading the synopsis, but it has become one of my favorites. A science-fiction writer, recently widowed, considers whether to adopt a hyper-imaginative 6-year-old abandoned and socially rejected boy who says he's really from Mars. The story of a man becoming a father...and a boy becoming a son. Teebonesy: There Will Be Blood ~ Daniel Day Lewis's best-ever performance, and that's saying a lot. This movie gets better and better with every viewing. It's a monster movie. I think the director has described it as kin to watching a car crash. It's extremely weird, dark, funny, and hits a sensitive spot to those like me who have a certain cynicism toward humanity. TV Shows CogSpartan: Life ~ A detective who was put away for seventeen years for a crime he did not commit, is payed 50 million dollars, and is given his life as a detective back. Follow him and his new partner as they solve crimes, and he tries to discover the truth behind his framing. CogSpartan: LOST ~ A plane crashes on a mysterious island, and many strange things happen to the survivors, and many mysteries are created, and revealed. CogSpartan: Eureka ~ The story of a sheriff of a very high-tech town, known as Eureka. Snrm007: George Lopez ~ Now it's your turn. I thought the Butterfly Effect was really good. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember it being very good. A short description (copied from IMDB however, sowwy D: ) A young man blocks out harmful memories of significant events of his life. Movies for **** near everyone: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - What can i possibly say about this movie. It's easily one of the greatest films of the decade. One of my favorite of all time. 1. Make sure the movies are appropriate. Movies such as Saving Private Ryan are OK, but nothing that has a lot of nudity, and sexual references. Because as we all know, there's nothing wrong with scenes where people's guts are blown out from machine gun fire, but god forbid we see a woman exposing her ****.

Martian Child A really great movie starring John Cusack and his sister Joan Cusack. It stars a child actor named Bobby Coleman that blows the doors off any performance I have ever seen from a kid. I figured I would'nt like this movie after reading the synopsis, but it has become one of my favorites. Plot: A science-fiction writer, recently widowed, considers whether to adopt a hyper-imaginative 6-year-old abandoned and socially rejected boy who says he's really from Mars. Tagline: The story of a man becoming a father...and a boy becoming a son.

Lol, well I didn't really know what to say, but I thought that violence isn't as bad as nudity and sexual references. You have seen Saving Private Ryan right? I watched it (I'm 17) in a class, everyone was going uuugh! aargh! OMG thats sick! If there was nudity I doubt there would be a reaction. It takes violence to the Nth degree >.<

Movies for **** near everyone: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Brazil Half Nelson Movies not for everyone: Blue Velvet The Fountain Synecdoche, New York Great list, although I haven't seen Brazil. All the other ones are really top notch though so I assume Brazil is good also. Synecdoche is the only one I didn't like. It is very interesting, and Charlie Kaufman is a great writer(ex. Eternal Sunshine), but I just didn't enjoy watching it. My suggestion would be No Country for Old Men.

Try to read every post, so you don't post an already posted movie/TV show. Sorry, when I read this it just went into one ear and then dissolved somewhere in the acids of my brain. It's a ridiculous rule, as was mentioned earlier. No tasetful love scenes involving a regular, naked human body, but people being violently blown to pieces, guts spilled out, crying for their moms is okay? Just so you know, several of the movies I listed involve nudity and/or sex, sometimes graphically. One of them doesn't involve tasteful sex, but violent sex! The worst of BOTH worlds! Uh ooh!! Hide the children!! Great list, although I haven't seen Brazil. All the other ones are really top notch though so I assume Brazil is good also. Synecdoche is the only one I didn't like. It is very interesting, and Charlie Kaufman is a great writer(ex. Eternal Sunshine), but I just didn't enjoy watching it. Get Brazil NOW! I'm not kidding, it's in my top 2 favorite films of all time. It's incredible, I've never seen another movie like it. It's weird. It's gorgeous. It's simultaneously brutally honest, hilarious, cynical, and hopeful. Synecdoche was a hard movie to enjoy. A very hard movie to enjoy. What I admire so **** much about is the attempt Kaufman makes in realizing an internal space for his character. I've always wondered about how to use the language of filmmaking to realize a dream space, to get inside the head of a character and understand them intimately without resorting to voice over or onscreen text descriptions, and without being weird for the sake of being weird, or being TOO dense (Inland Empire anyone?). For me, Kaufman made an experiment, and it worked amazingly well. It just so happens that the character we get to inhabit for 2 hours is a self-centered, grim-as-hell, deeply, deeply depressed basket case of a human being. Makes for a thoroughly unenjoyable ride at times, but nonetheless I was completely swept away by it. Another movie, which I think was by far the best movie of 2007, and one of my favorite recent films: There Will Be Blood ~ Daniel Day Lewis's best-ever performance, and that's saying a lot.
