How do you create a top down game feel so natural like the yeti one in the main game?

| I am an experienced top-down creator from LBP2/Vita, but in LBP3, there is a way to make top-down games that much more interesting with the rotator tools. However, i am struggling to make my characters control like the Yeti did in the main game. The Yeti's movements, jumps, etc were completely natural whereas my traditional methods of top-down creation do not seem to be recreating that feel..... | I wondered the same thing. I imagine a lot of the magic happens with the advanced in/out mover to give the effect that gravity is pulling into the screen. I wonder if, for instance, you press X to jump and a countdown timer activates the in/out mover so you move to the front layer with a decreasing speed (the illusion of jumping up). At the top of this motion another timer would reverse the in/out mover. You would need some impact sensors and tags to know if the player was touching the "floor" (a vertical piece of material) or not and when it had reached it's apex. If I hadn't said something, someone else would have. This is for tutorials only and the help section is for asking for help with anything pertaining to the game.
