Cry of Fear

Archive: 12 posts

Cry of Fear is a psychological single-player series set in a deserted town filled with horrific creatures and nightmarish delusions. You play as a young man called Simon, desperately searching for answers in the cold Scandinavian night, finding his way through the city as he slowly descends into madness. With a strong emphasis on cinematic experience, immersion and lateral thinking, players will be taken on a nightmare rollercoaster-ride through the grim streets of F?versholm and beyond. Not everything is as it seems...

Characters:

Simon Henriksson
Simon is a 19 year old male and the protagonist of Cry of Fear. He is an individual plagued with anxiety and depression, little being known about his school or home life - something his doctor notes are topics Simon refuses to discuss. It is known that Simon lives with his mother, no mention made of a father or other relatives. His only friend outside his home appears to be his friend Sophie, whom he harbors a secret interest in.

Doctor Purnell:
Also known simply as 'The Doctor', Purnell is the main antagonist during the events of Cry of Fear alongside the abominations Simon is subjected to fighting.

Sophie:
Sophie is a close friend of Simon's from school and is Simon's hidden love intrest. How Simon met her is never specifically stated, but Sophie states that she always had problems at school - hinting she was a victim of bullying by others, and that Simon was the only boy who was kind to her.

It is.

Probably would have had more to say if were original or you stated that it were a recreation of the game. Anywho, I played the game, didn't like it. And I don't think many LittleBigPlanet players have, you know, since the target audience of the game is children. Not saying we all are, simply, I'm not. But I wouldn't be interested in this sort of level. If it were original I would give it a go but knowing what it is. No thanks.

Huh... When I read this thread yesterday, I thought it was original. I've never heard of Cry of Fear before.

But regardless, it can still be interesting. Will you be adding your own spin on the story, or is it going to be just a 'port'?

Nobody is forcing you to play it.

I know. But I'm stating my opinion and the 'Ideas and Projects' section is for this. For us to tell you what we, the community, think of your levels idea. Now, you post at first isn't much of describing the level. You're telling us the story of an existing game. Which is from first person perspective, and as of now I know not of a camera capable of allowing this.

Speaking of which, how WILL you port this? Because Sew does have a point on the original being in 1st person view.

Will you be making it a side-scroller, top-down, or will you actually attempt to make it a 1st-person view? A change of view can change a lot in gameplay.

I NEVER said that I will make it a first person series/level.

Tell us then. If you're making a level based on a game we're going to assume your intentions are true to the actual version.2014-12-04 19:37:00

Don't say "We're", say "I am", because your assumption there is not my assumption.

I didn't think he'd go for the 1st-person viewpoint, seeing as how it's a bit difficult to do in LBP3. I figured he'd choose top-down or 2D/2.5D. I merely asked if he was going to choose a 1st-person view because if he were, he'd probably find this project to be a bit more difficult than he would want it to be.
