Need help for 3D movement Sackboy for precise front and back layer platforming

Archive: 4 posts

Hello everyone, I was finally able to understand the logic behind the 3d movement sackboy in the tutorial here. But there's one problem I can't seem to fix. The platforming on the front and back layer is imprecise especially when platforming between single layer platforms.

Sackboy seem to have a rubber band effect on the edge of each layer so it's almost a pain to navigate on jumps from layer to layer. This is obvious when you just flick the control on the up and down axis as you will see a rubber banding effect. He will always get back to the edge of the layer instead of staying in the middle of it like I wanted.

Also, is there a way I can make the camera stay permanent at a fix angle no matter where the player is? Right now, it moves when my character gets out of the box area and I've tried it with on and off switch. I'm trying to go for the resident evil 1 fixed camera angles that jumps from camera to camera at fixed angles. I am only able to do this with movie cameras but maybe

Also, is there a guide that talks about the new options like camera shine, local space, z axis (on cameras)?

Thanks in advance.

I see you trying to make a level like mine ; ) to solve the character from moving when you let go, simple put a battery with +1% tied to an advanced mover and another battery with -1% set to another advanced mover.

For the camera use movie cameras with sensors attached to them. I use a impact sensors set to touch, and I but the sensor on sticker panels with opacity to 100%... you are going to have to work out some logic so it's not so gltchy.

Wow thanks a lot. That worked great. No more rubber banding on layers. The sackboy now stays wherever in the layer instead of rubberbanding at the back edge. (Edit) You meant Advanced In/Out mover right? I tried both Advanced mover and In/Out seems to be what you meant.

I also experimented with the movie cameras and they seem to be the best choice. I use a selector connected to player sensors for each camera so I can connect all cameras and player sensors on the same selector. I have experimented on only 2 movie cameras atm though. I'd have to see if it will work fine with more than 3 cameras.

Yes that's what I meant lol, I'm glad I could help. Just keep experimenting with everything and you'll get it. I was going to show you my level but I noticed your playing the ps3 edition. I should publish an updated demo soon though.2014-11-29 02:29:00
