What do these do?

So I just got the game today, what is the purpose of camera shine and layer position? Never seen those options before. Also it's hard to tell what the light patterns do under water settings, any explanation? Thanks. | 2014-11-28 19:23:00 Author: AlexStarkie ![]() Posts: 37 |
I actually haven't even seen camera shine yet... but layer position will let you slightly move where an object is in a layer, which has very little visual depth effect, but if for example you have 2 sticker panels that are in the same layer, you can use the option to choose which ones will show up on top. | 2014-11-28 20:19:00 Author: DaBOSS54320 ![]() Posts: 31 |
They're both cosmetic effects which make no difference to physics. Camera shine gives a sliding scale of "wetness" or "reflectivity" on a material or object. Layer position makes a material appear slightly further back within a layer, as if it was thinner than its normal thickness. These two things don't change gameplay at all they are just for visuals. | 2014-11-29 00:15:00 Author: aratiatia ![]() Posts: 374 |
Layer position nudges the item in and out slightly in the layer to create a more pleasing stacked effect. Try it out with the camera angled, and you will see. I love it. Its been here since LBP2 though. Camera shine just gives the material more or less polish, and makes it more or less reflective when the light hits it. Also a nice effect. | 2014-11-29 14:41:00 Author: poorjack ![]() Posts: 1806 |
Thanks guys! Still need to know about light patterns under water settings. | 2014-11-29 16:08:00 Author: AlexStarkie ![]() Posts: 37 |
Light patterpatterns are basically light shafts. I assume the water ones are just especially designed so there are watery looking shafts when a light shines through the water. Haven't really experimentexperimented with the water patterns, but the light patterns on normal LEDs are really nifty. Check the levelevel in my Sig for some dope light patterns in the mine shaft. | 2014-11-29 17:02:00 Author: poorjack ![]() Posts: 1806 |
