Need a Skilled Creator's Help

Archive: 8 posts

I'm trying to recreate a few things from LBP2's Story Mode, starting with Da Vinci's Hideout, I'm trying to recreate the way the floor rotates and reveals a bouncepad, I've done most of the work but the wobble either gets stuck or doesn't rotate properly (finishes like 1 or 2% off being straight when rotated).
http://youtu.be/VZQzB7Oqv4M?t=6m16s Here's a video to see what I'm trying to make.

I published a copyable level, just search for "Da Vinci Bouncepad" it's like the only level, you can't miss it. I made multiple instances inside the level to show how unreliable it is being for me. Sometimes the sounds are all over the place, the servo sound is only meant to make a sound while it's moving via speed sensor but then it spazzes out and plays it again afterwards for a second or two.

Please, I really need help with this, I don't know what else to do. When you play story mode it works perfectly, so it's possible. So I'm calling out to all the skilled creators out there!

You're trying to recreate them in LBP3 correct? You could also bolt it in the middle, and then use a gyroscope to flip it. That might yield better accuracy, and the same speed without the error of a wobble bolt. then just have a gravity tweaker on the object set the dampening to 100% after it's finished turning the way you like.2014-11-27 06:25:00

In LBP2, unfortunately I won't have LBP3 until Christmas, but I posted here as it's more active. I'll try your method after I sleep, sounds promising.
When I get LBP3 I'm going to try and dephysicalize the material on boths sides next to the piece that rotates, perhaps that would fix it so it would no longer catch and not rotate properly, no idea how to fix it in LBP2 though, MM got it perfect.

Well, you did post it in the wrong place. haha Like I said, that will likely be the way to go. Since it's doing a 180 turn, your best bet is a microchip and putting a gyroscope with the arrow pointing down. that will flip it. Best of luck.2014-11-27 06:43:00

Hi Alex,

I hope that you could solve your problem, I didn't find your "Da Vinci Bouncepad" anymore so I assume that there is no need for further help! Currently I've been rebuilding some story level sceneries for a LBP music medley level that I will publish soon. Its been a lot of fun rebuilding these sceneries and I think I've learned a lot about design and decoration. I will also get a LBP3 not before Christmas, so I've decided to complete at least one of my nearly done projects till then. I wish you a happy creating and many gretings, Jürgen^^

Yes thank you, I got it all sorted. That's why I enjoy remaking story mode contraptions and scenes, it makes me think of things I would have never done before. Happy creating and greetings to you too! Looking forward to LBP3!2014-11-29 04:07:00
