Is this game worth buying at the moment?

Archive: 10 posts

I've been seeing lots of talk about how buggy the game is right now, but people have also been saying that this game is the best Little Big Planet game so far. Are most of the glitches easily forgettable, or am I guaranteed to run into multiple game-breaking bugs? I'm thinking of getting the game this weekend, but I want to know if I should hold off on buying it for now.2014-11-26 20:25:00

Everything is great except for all the annoying bugs, especially when playing the great looking story levels when some total gamebreaking bug strikes and ruins all the joy. Also, there is barely any DLC available at sll which makes create mode a little 'meh'. Other than that it's pretty awesome!2014-11-26 21:55:00

LBP3 is an awesome game, minus the bugs. I would say read about the bugs because some of them are avoidable. In the same breathe waiting a couple days or weeks for all the patches to come in would save a lot of frustration. I personally dont think the community is going anywhere and would wait, unless you can get a good black friday deal. The price wont drop for a while and LBP games get really good around month 2 and beyond where all the creations start pouring in.

Personally I would keep developing in LBP2 until this version is fixed.

I just got it today, and I'm abit confused ( or just darn lucky ) since I too have seen ALOT of people complaining about various different bugs and glitches, I've completed, well, around 65% of the story so far along with a bunch of the puppit puzzles, I haven't encountered any bugs what so ever, only a level glitch where some important piece of the level broke and I had to restart the level.

Also, I've seen people complain about their LBP1 and LBP2 stuff not importing, well, the very first time I started the game, a big pop-up screen appeared and said something along the lines ''Welcome back, I'd thought I recognized your'' and so on..
It told me how to unlock the stuff with two buttons in the start menu. I found the buttons and clicked them, everything imported just fine, not problems.

So if you're just the slightest a LBP fan I'd say go get it!

Also, may I add that Sumo Digital completely 100% nailed the Mm feel that we know from LBP1 and LBP2 and that the story levels are THE best story levels in any of the LBP games ever.
They're so incredible well executed and the overall flow and presentation of them is spot on.
my best investment for my PS4 since the Console itself

However, if you're a hardcore creator then you may find yourself getting abit frustrated in create mode... There's a few bugs and glitches I've come across on a regular basis, especially the thing with the Corner editor... if you zoom in on what ever you're currently editing, then it works fine in the first few layers, but, as you go further and further back, the cursor will start flying all over the place, it get's worse for each layer you got back, so if you have something in layer 10+ you need to corner edit, then it's nearly impossible since you have to zoom almost all the way out.

Nice to see a positive opinion at the moment! There's so much negativity around in places, it's depressing.

I'd say get it if you're a LBP fan.

If you're planning to play through the story single player or with some local co-op players, you shouldn't have any serious issues. The story levels I really enjoyed. A lot of them are really well designed and a lot of fun.

That being said, you will likely have issues with:
Create mode, online play, random weird issues when there's a lot going on, editing levels you've created that include DLC that have not been fixed on the store yet. There are also many aesthetic and ease-of-use bugs. These will all very likely be patched in time.

Make sure you set your profile to receive community prize bubbles before you start your play-through (There's a bug that considers level complete prizes as community prizes).

Have fun!

@Anyone saying they're not experiencing bugs:

Just wait until you start creating. 50% of the time, when I try to make a material thicker, my whole PS4 will crash (not just the game) and I have to hold the power button down for 20 seconds or so to turn it off. This happens every 5-10 minutes when I create. I also had my profile corrupt already.

Also, LBP2 community levels are broken and online play doesn't work. Local multiplayer doesn't even work for me anymore.

Story is literally the only thing that works well right now (and even that has some problems).

I've 100%ed and aced all of story mode, and I've created for probably about 15 hours so far, so I have a pretty good idea of how often these problems arise.

I want to say that you should just wait until the bugs are fixed, but I'm worried this game will get the LBPK treatment if nobody buys it. Which is a shame because I REALLY like this game. A LOT. I really want to see it get fixed.

What also worries me is that a huge chunk of annoying bugs from the beta were left unfixed. You can't zoom in and use the corner editor or else it will fly all over the place, for example.

I really hope they fix the game. Even if this were to be the final LBP game, I just want to be able to play it without issues.

I am legitimately concerned about how broken this game is right now.

Thanks for all the info! It seems like most of the issues are in Create mode, which I think I can wait to get fixed. The story levels and community levels have made up the majority of my playtime in the past, so I think I'll be fine in the game's current state.

That's really good to hear! I've never felt the handheld games have ever captured MM's style, which is one of the reasons I've never gotten into them. But if Sumo Digital has managed to get that feel, then I'll definitely enjoy the story!

I was very concerned about the bugs, but i've only encountered a handful (one sorta major but not game-breaking). It's definitely an awesome game, even though it has a few bugs, and those will most likely get fixed anyways. I recommend you to get it!2014-11-27 13:29:00
