3D camera question

Archive: 5 posts

It's not really a call for help, more something I've been thinking about and would like to know the answer to:

If I took a sackbot and enabled him to move in full 3D, what would happen if I attached some holo to his back and then placed a camera (set to local space?) on that holo?

Well. For starters, you can't necessarily 'enable' the character to move in full 3D. You just need the logic on him. I wish there was an enable 3D movement option.

And you can't put holo on Sackboy's back.

BUT! I did test out something I had forgotten to test out. A camera with a blaster handle. Ze experiment... She was unsuccessful.

The gun doesn't aim along the Z-axis. Just up, down, left, and right; and everything in between.

I didn't know that. What about a rotation disc set to positional (if it has that setting), following the sackbot/sackboy with a camera attached and rotating according to the 3D orientation? Now you're going to tell me you can't put a camera on the disc rotator aren't you ... Tears.

Can't believe it never occurred to me to try that. Too bad it didn't work.

I can't say I've tried but I'm pretty sure it won't work, or, if it does attach, the camera will remain static and not rotate with the disc. Try it though: I'd love to be proven wrong.

It was actually one of the first things I tested when I found out that I had the rotating disks in LBP2. It stayed static.
