PS4 Messaging Problems

| Hi all, I have a few problems with my PS4 messages. Firstly, they always appear as new. I have opened them up and read them, yet when I back out into my game or another feature, if I look back, it says I have a new message, yet I have already read it. Next, I will get a notification for a message on the left hand side of my screen, yet if I click the PS Button to go to my messages, there's nothing there, and I have to wait about 20 minutes before I can read it. I also cannot delete my messages. I press the options button and then "delete" then okay, yet the message is still there and I can still view it? I have left one message alone for weeks now, and it still hasn't gone. Finally, how do you leave group chats? Someone keeps making these group chats with me and 40 odd other people in, and I can see people leave, yet I can't an option anywhere.
