Is it just me?

Is it just me or was the LBP3 campaign REALLY small?

Lbp2 had like 7 places to go and this one has 4 books..

and btw I just beat it going back to get all the objects but this really was super small in my opinion, maybe this was why the critics were not liking this?

let me know what you think.

Yeah its small, but the overworlds and minigames within the overworlds are really neat. I wish it had more content too, but the campaign is the least of your worries with an LBP game.2014-11-24 03:56:00

Except that you are ignoring the entire prolog, as well as the levels where you get the extra characters (Oddsack's level, Toggle's level, Swoop's level) and the boss battles....

Maybe you feel the game like that, but i think this is the most complete game, with all the bubble prizes, quests and gameplay variations.2014-11-24 04:03:00

It's definitely smaller. There's far less to do, less multi-player content, and the levels are short and pretty easy to Ace (not that I mind the latter two, considering the lag LBP online is famous for). Honestly, I can really feel that there are more community creators putting this one together. Don't get me wrong.. it looks amazing, but it just doesn't have the same feel as when MM was at the helm.

If it wasn't so broken right now I'd say that's a bad thing, but I've had to replay all my levels over just to get the content it didn't give me the first time through, so at this point I'm fed up with the story and just want all my stuff to dive into create mode. On that point, there is a TON of new create content in all areas, so in that sense, it's not as small as you might think.

Maybe we will see more content via LBP Hub? Smaller DLC mission packs and the like.2014-11-24 05:51:00

Lol 'An adventure so big it had to be little.' LBP3 sure lives up to those words. Yeah you are right about the campaign length although I'm not complaining. It's shorter as it's located in one world but that means less multiplayer sections to be thrown in your face this time around. The faster I can get through story mode the quicker I can get to creating.2014-11-24 05:51:00

If you are a real fan of LBP, you would know the real fans dont buy LBP for the story. Maybe for the tools, materials, and just to be able to use everything else, but other than that I wouldn't care much about story mode.

I mean, its like buying COD just for campaign, and after beating it, you are like "oh welp im done" and just shelf the game for all eternity.

@RustBukkit You are right. Wrap the game and wait for christmas. By then, thousands of others will have the game, and will be creating amazing things. And no offense, but if you hate on the story so much, I hope you realize they use the same program we do. Yes, they use a computer to create models, meshes, stickers, etc., but our moon and their programs are very alike. Dont hate them for making a few mistakes

Woah woah woah there with the 'real fan' talk. Plenty of 'real fans' buy the game for the story and aren't creators. That's the beauty of the game... it has something for everyone. A fan is a fan, no matter what their reasons.

Nor sure if you're being sarcastic about my sarcastic tag referring to the horrible state of the game right now, or serious. As for hating on the story, I merely pointed out that it doesn't feel as polished to me as when MM developed the story levels. I do realize they use the game to build the game. Been playing since the first week LBP came out, and have been a proud Beta tester for LBP2. Yes, I'm very aware of how things work with this franchise.

I don't hate them for making a few mistakes, but this launch is extremely irresponsible of them to put it out in the state it's in. The game is unplayable for many of us. Broken so badly that I'm unable to progress, let alone create due to missing content and basic things like stickering not even working.

A few mistakes? Clearly you haven't seen this thread. -_-

This. The levels look a TON more intricate and beautiful than when MM did it, but... MM is like Disney. There is a clever simplicity, and a timelessness that I think this (and LBP2) was missing, which is odd, because LBPV and LBPSP also felt along these same lines. I don't know. I miss how it felt so hand crafted, like it was all happening in a toy chest or a yard. This is good too, but it is missing that MM charm, and that MM polish.

Popit academy is also pretty decent in size, its about the size of another entire book.

Totals of about 5 'worlds' with about 8+ levels each. That's about the same size as the last 2 games.

I feel the level links made this game feel much bigger, but thats because so much more running around was involved.

Instead of just unlocking the next level, I'd go back to the first level and explore more to find the entrance to the third, then fourth level.

So I end up running around the first level several times.

I bet the Story in about a third of the time compared to LBP1 and 2. I felt with all the new tools, the levels would show them off a bit more, yet they seemed o be trying to get through them as fast as possible. And maybe its just me, but levels when your Sackboy, all felt quite similar, bar using new pickups. Like, they all seemed to have similar jumps and such, and the differences were the items you used and the visuals. Dunno, thought they could of shown of the new items and tools a bit better than they did.2014-11-30 17:37:00

I was actually pretty happy with the story length, and liked that the ideas presented were similar but with section that showed upgraded concepts based on new logic. The don't need to hit you over the head with ZOMG 16 Layerz of watar!

This means that nothing was over used and ideas were demonstrated in was that leave you saying 'wouldn't it have been cool if...' which is exactly what create mode is for and to me the story mode including popit academy does this really well. I played the story mode and got a few cool ideas to go and try out. The actual levels are easy to revisit to check out the sections that inspired me.

Not that long ago, I had to re-play LBP1 and LBP2 to re-get content after my PS3 died, and they aren't really that long either. In LBP1 there were more OMG this is nearly impossible sections more to do with the limited amount of lives (no infinite spawn).

However it only took a day to finish both LBP1 and LBP2. LBP3 took me about a day to get through as well.

Getting 100% was much harder in LBP1 and took me quite a few weeks to do it. I don't think LBP3 will take as long. But I actually like that it is a bit easier.

I read through this entire thread, because I'm trying to find out why the only thing I can access in LBP3 is the 7 prologue story levels, and then the popit puzzles (tutorials), and thats it! None of the DLC codes I downloaded shows up anywhere either. I'm having fun learning the creative mode, but I am just as much into the story campaigns, which seems to be non-existent! I'm going to try contacting support but figured I'd try here first.
Every time I watch the intro cut scene, I wonder where any of this comes out in the game. Am I supposed to unlock something somewhere? Is this really an unfinished release?

Try re-watching the final cut scene in the prologue level. It should open the next stage.

Don't backout and go to pod... even with it loading the next story, it doesn't save until you do something in the new story hub for the game to save.

If if it doesn't save them it won't appear on the planet to select it.

That could be the solution - I'll try that! It's just looked very weird seeing the planet with only the one prologue circle to go to! As for the down loadable content that comes with the day-one edition, I will have to find that as well. The store says I downloaded it, but I can't seem to find it in the game.

Which content are you referring too? If you mean costumes, just open your poppit and select the little sackboy...they should be in there. If not, have you entered the codes in the playstation store and DL'ed them?

If you are talking about levels kits, then you need to go to "more stories". Many of the kits are glitched and either unavailable or not working right now. Go to the "news" section of this board for a thread on this.

Just a followup after re-watching that prologue cut-scene... (which was 5 of 5 levels - I erroneously said 7 in original post)
When I went back and re-watched it, I was able to progress to the next story levels. (And WOW, gasp, what detailed levels!!) There's a ton of serious voice-acting talent going on here!
I thought I had watched/played through sufficiently the first time, lol, but hey. Now that the levels are opened up, all is well, and it looks like all I was expecting. Now I'll be able to have my sackboy progress through the story like a pro!
I suddenly see my DLC as well. I got some dragon age suits and other things that just weren't showing up before.

i like the story it feels short but i have only one small complaint i wish the new characters were used more often you only get 5 levels to play as them and that it i wish they could help get the marbles but beggars cant be choosers2014-12-03 02:28:00

While it is a much smaller campaign, I have to agree it felt too quick. I finished the whole story mode in about 4-5 hours, while LBP2 had me going for at least 12 in total. What I felt should have been done is to have the new characters have more than y'know, just 2 levels for each of them, not including the final boss. I do appreciate the hubworlds, because they definitely give you some extra exploration, but there's just so little to do in them besides find secrets and run around with a character that barely gets much screentime.

Hopefully we can have some DLC or updates/extensions. Perhaps the gang runs around in Craftworld? Maybe revisiting old LBP1 levels that tie in with the new mechanics? After all, that's not only where Newton's portal led all of them, but those brainwashed King, Queen, and Collector would make for some really awesome stories and subplot levels, I think.
