6-axis controls

Archive: 8 posts

I am building a level that uses two styles of controls (labrinyth).
First style uses 2 toggles, left/right.
And the second style uses the 6-axis function of tilting.
Also set-up a button to switch between during game play.
With hud display of type using.
Set the controller up to have have the ability to conform to two styles of play.
When I was using the left/right toggles and testing, I thought what if people didnt like the controls or are to skilled with the controls. So I decided to incorporate the second style controls.

Has anybody done this yet?
Or does anybody have ideas that use 6-axis controls?
Im not pro at logic, but I will share in what I know.

I know a tutorial (in french) which explains how to play with the sixaxis.
Here is a link
Tuto- jouer en Sixaxis (http://www.littlebigplanet-france.net/t13610-tuto-jouer-en-sixaxis)

I'll try to translate it quickly when i'll have the time.

Let keep pushing the boundaries of whats capible.

I've already mentioned that I have a paper plane level currently in construction that utilises the six-axis controls in your previous thread. I'm not aware of any level that has used it before, so I thought I'd give it a go. Looks like you beat me to it then!

Scorpio' the idea of using the 6-axis is still yours. I havent beat you to anything.
In the 'new projects forum', you mentioned an idea for using the 6-axis.
During the construction of Optimus prime, I was working on multi-connectioned/multi-movement.
A few weeks ago, as I was simplifiying a shoulder movement with two motors.
Something clicked...
I own a older wooden box game called 'labyrinth'. And thought It would be cool to remake it on LBPK.
And have been trying to understand the 'motion' (up/down/left/right) of the actual game, and how to remake it.
At the time I didnt understand 'multi-motion' and how to control it.
But during the long construction of Prime, I had to push myself beyond. In doing so, I have broken down a few new logic systems, and created a few new controls of logic.

Im pretty sure that the ideas we have for 6-axis controls would be 2 seperate styles.
You are developing the idea for flight, and I want to move the earth.
So all we need now is water and fire.

No, you got me totally wrong, there's absolutely no animosity. I'm looking forward to playing the game.

A tip for the 6 axis controls though, in my opinion the vertical movement is upside down. If you agree, a simple solution is to run the controlinator vertical output into a direction splitter, then connect this to a direction combiner but connect splitter output 'positive' to combiner input negative and output 'negative' into input positive. Sorted.

I had that 'problem' too, opposite directional movement. Did the same thing, split it and recombined it opposite.
This might work too, if your motor is facing right and connected on the right side. Try unconnnecting it, spinning it 180 degrees so it faces left and recconnecting it (same signal, same angle just opposite direction).

Is it just me or is the -6-axis control- kind of 'touchy'?

Yes, very sensitive, but only when it decides to be. In my Superman level, Superman was originally controlled using the 6axis but I kept finding it going unresponsive at times and didn't give the fine control you sometimes need in that level. The PS4 controller is much much more forgiving and more 'intuitive' even, I guess that's just technology improvement.

I would think it's possible to work around that issue in your new level with tilt controls for fine movement using the analogue sticks, so you get to a tricky bit and switch to maybe the left stick for left/right tilt and right stick for back/forth.
