How to make a third person lvl?

Archive: 5 posts

Anyone know how to do this? I have no idea how to make the cameras look like its at a third person view.2014-11-23 02:50:00

You have to put the camera on the side of something (An invisible hologram probably being the best choice...) and then enable local space on the camera. This is a glitch, and is not officially supported, so don't expect it to work perfectly. Then, just make a top down level as you usually would, and the camera will be showing it on an angle that makes it appear 3rd person, or 1st person depending on if you make the player visible in front of the camera.2014-11-23 02:55:00

I'll never used local space before, what does it do? Also can I just place a normal sackbot on the top down view using the rotators? I just want natural walking third person movement like in modern shooters like Uncharted, for example.2014-11-23 04:20:00

Local space will make the camera's rotation match the object it is on. Though, it was only meant to work with being put on the face of an object, not the sides. But... if you do put it on the side, the amazing glitch of the 3D camera will happen, and it will make the camera go really far into an all new angle that shows your level in a way suitable for 3rd or 1st person.

The sackbot should just have his rotation's pitch tweaked to 270 (Using the character animation tweaker) so that it looks like he's standing on the ground.

I saw someone using the camera glitch the other day and from what I saw, it actually looked better than normal. In fact it looked like it was part of the game. Perhaps the extra layers have helped.2014-11-23 16:26:00
