Did anyone figure out the Decoration Mount?

I'm going out of my mind trying to figure that little guy out, in the introduction it has the tongue, and other levels the window shutters and doors etc.. move like on a hinge, especially the dice rolling etc. can anyone clarify?2014-11-22 22:05:00

When I used it, it just seemed to be something used for making a decoration get small and big repeatedly. This effect could be used for some type of collectible, like some games do for pickups/powerups. The scale %s just say how big and how small the decoration should go in contrast to it's original size. Put a decoration on it then play around with the settings and I'm sure you'll figure it out.2014-11-22 23:33:00

Spinning decorations use the rotating disc, not the decoration mount. All of those rotating animations, hinges and such are just rotating discs with decorations on them. This was available in LBP2 with the DC level pack but is now available by default in LBP3.

The decoration mount (the cube shaped thing) is meant for making decorations bigger/smaller. It can scale in any direction (x, y, or z) an combination of directions. If left at its default, it will cycle from 100% (normal size) to 0% (completely gone) in a one second interval. It can be set to maintain a specific size by connecting a battery set to whatever percentage you like to its inputs and setting it to positional. It has three inputs, one for each direction, so you can set each direction to a different value or cycle by using timers or other logic.

I believe this is how the flashlight pictures were done in story mode: they were decorations with a 0% z axis until the light was shone on them and then they scaled up to 100% to pop out of the picture frame.

I dont see how a rotating disc would accomplish the doors opening and closing so I messed around in create mode and used the swivel light object, turns off in playmode, dephysicalized it and hooked up a tag on a sticker material to have the light follow it, works flawlessly!! gonna post up a vid here in a sec

I'd say the dice actually moved through the layers. You can easily make objects act that way with an object animator and advanced in out mover...

I dont see how a rotating disc would accomplish the doors opening and closing so I messed around in create mode and used the swivel light object, turns off in playmode, dephysicalized it and hooked up a tag on a sticker material to have the light follow it, works flawlessly!! gonna post up a vid here in a sec

He's talking about the deco spinner. You put deco on it and control it with logic. You can make any deco spin in the z axis with it.

Is it just me or does the rotating disc distort your decorations when it's spinning? Cuz it happens to pretty much any decorations I place in it. Because I know that this is how the hinge effect is made. Though silencer775's concept is another way to work around this, I just think the rotating disc tool has a more dynamic and use less tools to achieve the same visuals.

If the rotating disc is not fixed in a patch, I guess I'm forced to use the swivel light instead. Sucks that I can't make any Z-axis motion without it being horribly deformed. So is anyone else having the same issue?

Did you change the size of the rotator in any way?

I did change the size of the rotating disc, but that's before placing the deco... You know what I'll test that out. Cuz I always change the size of the tool because it was too small for me to place the thing I want on it.... If it works, I'll just thank you in advance.2014-11-23 09:39:00

Some decorations were never meant to be viewed side on, so of course they'll looked stretched.

Yeah it's been like that since lbp2. I just think it's the nature of the beast....

Okay, I've tested it and it was due to me always changing the size of the spinner before placing any deco on it. However, after placing a deco on and then increasing the size of the spinner, it stayed proportion. Didn't mean to sound like a dummy, it's my first time using the rotation disc after all.
