[LBP2] Unfinished Level Series : Cardboard Cutout : Part 1

Archive: 5 posts

DON'T LET THE 'Unfinished' TRICK YOU! It's a finished level.

The Unfinished Level Series will be prolonged on LittleBigPlanet 3 with lots of more features and lots of more fun for both you and your friends. In Part 1, Sackthing and Sackthing friends find out a terrible secret. Something that's been kept from them for quite some time now, some say it could be the end. Some say is could be the beginning. The only way to find out is to unfold what's behind the lid.

Hello everybody, it's been a long time since I genuinely created a serious level in LittleBigPlanet, and with the highly anticipated release of LittleBigPlanet 3 coming soon; I just couldn't help myself! I went at it again to give people an idea of what to expect from the in the near future within LittleBigPlanet 3, and to give myself an idea of what I could do. Oh, the possibilities!

Anyway, if you could give this level a look and give me a good honest review on it, that would be amazing. I need to know what I'm up against when I create the sequel in LittleBigPlanet 3. Don't go easy on me, but don't complain about the level being all cardboard and stickers. That's the theme of pretty much the entire series, simple design but fun gameplay. Give me your honest views of the gameplay, on the bugs in the level, where things are too easy, too hard, etcetera.

And most of all thanks for reading, and hopefully soon enough; thanks for playing!

P.S: Couldn't get the lbp.me tag thing to work, so here's the link: http://lbp.me/v/qtwtj9h

Update: Now fixed the problem at the end of the level where the jump was near impossible and caused many rage quits. 2014-11-23 19:21:00

Just played this, and was unable to finish it still... Just ended up standing around in the dark. I couldn't seem to go left, but could run all the way back to the left and fell into the pit of spikes and died.

the level plays well for the most part, but there are a few sections that seem a bit tight, especially with some of the pillar jumps that go between layers as well.

There is a low roof above the back layer of pillars, that cause sackboy to hit it's head, while it doesn't interfere with the actual jump arc, It does look a bit strange and adds to an unessecary cramped feeling.

Your camera choices could benefit from some slight tweaking, as some of the angles are a little off, neither here nor there... Because the camera is sitting in a middle ground between front on and isometric it becomes a bit difficult to land a simple jump as you are unable to accurately judge the distances on some occasions.

In the section where you go down three levels, and jump the moving spikes to pull a lever, when you get back up the top your camera choice doesn't actually let the player see the moving opening in the roof. You can just see the shadow of it but it makes it very difficult to plan out the required wall jumps.
