Hi, I'm Tigerspike.

I'm a stay-at-home dad with two girls. I've been playing LBP since the first game, and really began to enjoy the creation aspect in the second game. I've been messing around with the new (and awesome) creation tools in LBP3, and I'm pretty excited to see what there will be in store for us players as more things are released. I look forward to seeing what you guys are doing, and possibly getting tips and pointers from you all to improve my own creations.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. Here's a couple of levels that I previously published:

LittleBigVania--an homage to Castlevania, not the best stage, but my wife helped me with the music.
https://lbp.me/v/xb7vp6/

Ninja Garden--the first stage in a series that I was working on in LBP2. Doesn't work properly in LBP3, so I'm working on a remake of this.

And into the queue with them both! I'm curious about the music in your LittleBigVania because I've done some Castlevania Music before! I even have composed some Songs called Castlevania 02, Castlevania 03 and Castlevania 04! (I know, the tiltles are rather varied, thats because I'm rather creative! ) They're probably far away from similarity with any known Castlevania sound, but I had my fun composing them!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Hi Jürgen!

Most of the Castlevania songs that I used were created from some sheet music I found, so most are piano pieces with the English song names on the sequencers. My wife can read sheet music, but I can't, so she's the brain behind the music in my Castlevania stage.

I've since moved to converting midis with the Anvil Studio program. It's very handy, and I'm able to create more complex songs.

So you've made them the same way like I have made my very first Music Sequencers? And my very first songs were from Castlevania. What a coincidence! I can't wait to play your level now.

I've never tried the Anvil studio program, when I started to create music in LBP2 I've done some requested songs for friends using sheets or from hearing, but soon I noticed that for me its so much more fun to create own songs (and its even less work! ) Now when people ask me to do specific songs for them, I offer them to create an original song in the style of the song they wanted to have!
One of my first "in the style of" creations has been a Castlevania Theme for IrishDevil79! He asked me to rebuild the original theme out of the game, but when I heard it, I didn't really like it! Its been in 8bit sound style (I'm not the fan of 8bit music) and so I offered to change the song and the result has been my Castlevania 01! (Btw later I didn't like the song anymore and so I took the best part of it and created a new song around this part with the result which you will be able to hear in my upcoming "Do you fear Death?" level under the name Castlevania 03)
My Castlevania 02 is sounding that way:

A little repetitive, but its been one of my early compositions!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Cool.

I jumped onto your Youtube page and listened to some of the other songs you composed. Good stuff, and I really liked your "Devil's Theme."

Hi Tigerspike,

now I've played your LittleBigVania and its been a lot of fun to me! It has a certain flair, funny little monsters, and some cool music! Compliment to your wife, too! I enjoyed your level though I didn't reach the end! I lost too much lives and cause there has been no endless lives checkpoint, I finally died! But I will try it once again, soon!
Thanks a lot and many greetings, Jürgen^^

Heya again, Tigerspike!

I also played your level. It was funny and brought many memories back from my childhood!

Thought the level had some mistakes at the bosses where the level just stopped there and wouldn't continue. And the bass of the songs were too silent, I didn't hear them. But even so it was genius and fun! I even remembered all the hidden walls!

Thanks for checking out my stage, guys.

Jürgen, it's going to tickle my wife to no end to know that she was complimented by someone from so far away.

TenebrisNemo, I'm not sure why the stages simply stopped when you were playing. After beating the bosses a red ball should drop for you to grab and advance to the next stage. Do you remember which boss it glitched at? I had someone complain about the Reaper boss fight, was that the one?

As for the bass issue, I agree. I wish I had an adequate solution to the quietness of the bass instrument. The other instrument I have this problem with is the harpsichord. I've tried doubling up the instrument in the past, with mixed results. Sometimes good, sometimes really bad. I've even tried lowering the levels of the more powerful instruments, but then the whole piece can become too quiet. I'll just have to keep adjusting it to see what can be done.

It was the red ball of the Medusa Queen. After I defeated her, the red ball appeared for few seconds then it disappeared.

The struggle with the bass is real. However I liked the piano notes of the songs. Perhaps some of the electric instruments could keep up with the bass's notes, making it sound more efficient, like Blue Wave for example, if I remember the name correctly.

Hi Tigerspike,

when I wanted to emphasize the bass, then sometimes I used the "tennis ball" instrument additionally, but the settings I can't tell you off-hand, I first have to check them. And greetings to your wife and please tell her that a good job is timeless!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

I figured out why you couldn't hear any bass on the stages you played.

There was no bass on the stages you played.

I looked at the music tracks, and Vampire Killer (stage 1) was coded by someone other than myself. Stalker (stage 2/Medusa stage) was my first track, and prior to my playing around with other instruments and adding bass. I'll update the songs and re-publish it in a little bit.

Hahaha, thats funny! Then I don't need to be worried about my ears! But if I would have heard any bass then I probably would have had to be worried about my brain more than about my ears! Hahaha! 2014-12-01 20:45:00

Alright, I updated the stages, level 2 is now featuring more bass. Enjoy.
