Disabling the Popit completely?

Archive: 10 posts

It's just something I was working on in the beta and couldn't find a way of doing it. I had a section in my level when sackboy became completely invisible. The only problem is that my design relied on the player not being able to see where sackboy was and only having memory and sound effects to guide him/her. Unfortunately this was completely made redundant by the fact you could just open your popit to see where he/she was. Is there a way of stopping the popit entirely?2014-11-16 14:44:00

I think the only way to disable the popit is if the player is in a controlinator. This would mean that the player would be controlling a sackbot. I don't think there is an option to disable the popit using a gameplay tweaker.2014-11-16 15:16:00

I can't remember, but wasn't there a way of capturing a sackboy and using it just like you would a character?

The only way to disable the pop-it is by having the player control a sackbot. I tried everything I could think of when making my Donkey Kong Country-ish level in the beta. The only way I could make the square button usable for rolling was to use a sackbot rather than a custom character.

It kinda sucks because disabling the pop-it is the only advantage of using a sackbot (For example, the camera excluder doesn't work at all if you're controlling a sackbot). Everything else is so much better with custom characters. I hope they added a "disable pop-it" feature before release. There's already an option for the sackpocket and organisertron to be disabled (although I assume that was for backwards compatibility reasons), so that's nice. It just seems like disabling the pop-it should be an obvious feature with all these new goodies for customizing characters and stuff.

You weren't able to put a controllinator in a Broadcast chip and set it to where the popit is disabled, then send that broadcast chip's logic to the players?

PS: This reminds me of that game Rain!

Hi GribleGrunger .
I haven't really got a chance to test this, so cant say it works... but...as Devious Oatmeal says,
If you place an infinite range broadcast chip on the entrance gate (or near it) and set this to detect all players in range.
Next put a controllinator on this broadcast chip. Tweak the dcs to detect the nearest player and to 'disable poppit'.
This way as the player moves about, they 'should' have this logic applied to them, where they cannot open their poppit menus
Again, I cant totally promise this will work mate, as haven't really tried to do this, but here's hoping.

I've just tried this and I'm afraid it doesn't work :-(

Should be an option in the Global Gameplay / Tweak controls if the user desided to use the custom character instead of a Sackbot.
Not only you can totally disable the popit, but you can disable; Customise Character, Personal, Stickers & Decorations, Text Chat and Hold To Retry. If one of them is disabled, it works just like the demos at the game conventions where you can only Customise Character and Hold To Retry.

I first thought of it when I can easily change the protagonist into any costume in the retro horror level.

Do you have any pictures or anything to show what you mean I looked in the global options and didn't find anything about that

It's just a wish that need to be included. Grant it, you never find it in here because it isn't been implimented yet.

I don't know why it isn't been included, it's seems an easy addition to the game in the future patches.
