Animated Stickers

These could be anything really, from a water drip to water running down, from a bird flying to a rabbit hopping, from a sun setting to a cloud darkening, from a fly cloud to litter blown along. Just little flourishes that we could add into our levels to bring them to life.2014-11-09 14:12:00

In a sense we do kinda have these. Especially in LBP3. In the "Everything we now so far" post there are some fancy animated decorations like fire or smoke! If you are talking about animated flat stickers then that would be awesome too!2014-11-09 20:52:00

Yes, I'm talking about flat stickers. For instance, with a water running down animation, you would be able to place them on any material and make it look like water was running down it. Or with the bird animation you could put several together and make it look like a flock of birds flying across the screen. YES, there are workaround (my most hated word in LBP) but these would be properly animated and look exactly as they should.

I can completely understand your hatred for workarounds. Sure, anything is possible in LBP, but if it takes an extra 30 mins to animate a bird then forget it. I really do like your idea though, it could definitely give a lot of life to sticker panel backgrounds and such.2014-11-09 21:43:00

Well, they always look like workarounds. That's the problem. It's about time we moved away from 'wow, look at what someone managed to do in LBP' to 'wow, that game was great.'

I think the idea would be good and i know you said you hate workaround but in a sense we already have that. You just need a sequencer and sticker panel. I make alot of animations in LBP2 by making render models and taking pics of each movement sometimes use paint tool for it (which would be best for water on the material thing) but I do agree with this maybe add a tool to photo option where you would have your render model positions lined up then take a pic of each 1 then as soon as you exit you get you animation. same with paint tool maybe they could make it before you save you can choose weather to save another 1 so it would then switch between them both or multiple. I think this would be a good thing to add though.2014-11-14 22:36:00
