A follower that stays with sackboy.

Archive: 9 posts

I was in the beta, but I forgot to really mess with the follower. I remember there was an odd stability setting or something and I wasn't sure what the point of it was since it just made the follower move around erratically. There really needs to be a follower that's actually synced up with sackboy if there's not already one in there.2014-11-07 02:42:00

I thought followers already did this. I am a little confused by what your post is asking for.2014-11-07 03:01:00

I think he means specific players and more stability. And yes that was in beta 2 ways: the regular follower, and a broadcast microchip. As for how stable setting something to follow that, I couldn't tell you as I didn't test that.2014-11-07 06:42:00

Followers at maximum speed setting tend to trail behind sackboy. Say you wanted to create a sword animation with the sticker panel, if you're moving fast enough, the animation won't stay in position and will lag behind your character. Specific player followers would be nice too. I saw an "owned by sackboy" option on tags but I'm not sure how that works since I never got to play multiplayer.

Are you sure it lags behind? I'm sure it's instant when the radius is set to 0 minimum and speed is set to maximum, but I could be wrong because it's not something I use very often.

I don't recall exactly in LBP2 but I know vita if you change directions too fast, it doesn't go where it should for a split second. I think it was worse in LBP2.

Oh, right, I stand corrected. It would be a good idea then

I never had a problem with Tag followers in Beta, provided all the settings were at maximum. Didn't do much with player follower in LBP3 beta, but it always worked reliably for me in LBP2.2014-11-07 20:05:00

I know what you mean by the small lag in LBP2, even at full speed a follower still had a small amount of rubber banding.

I also didn't really mess with player followers in the beta, but did use broadcast microchips for a lot of things that I would have used a sackboy follower for in LBP2.

I think that a broadcast microchip setup will be more accurate and the blaster handle is logic, so making a sword animation could end up as part of the object, not an animation panel following sacboy like it would be in LBP2.

The new design tricks will take a while to work out but the sheer potential of animations on individual weapons and items is very exciting.
