Issues with automated log-off

Archive: 27 posts

You guys really gotta $^@^&ing fix the auto log off thing!!!!!
I literally spent an hour writing up information for my level on here, and then all vanished because apparently I had been logged off!! Go fix it right now! It's absolutely stupid!!! REALLY ****** off because I ate up valuable time, that I should not be using for on here right now.
It's absolutely ridiculous! No one would ever want to hack my LBPCentral account, so why the need for auto log off? -_-

Um... there is a check in box when you log in to turn off the auto log off... The Remember Me box. So yeah.2014-11-06 22:38:00

I had an issue with that because I was new to forums when I first came here. But Rock is right. There's the box you need to click.2014-11-06 22:41:00

Been here 6 years and only needed to log in maybe once per year mostly for reasons not related to the site.2014-11-06 22:49:00

What are the policies for the use of profanity on the website? Cannot be good.

To the relevant. You might want to start ctrl+c-ing. You know, after you check the remember me box as mentioned above.

What Rock said... there is already the Remember Me box... Auto log off is to lessen connections to the database and our bandwidth. Just part of v Bulletin.

Regardless what you think or feel... no need yelling at us for no reason, especially for losing a bit of your time. Anyone who types that long without saving elsewhere like to notepad, word, or some other place, is just asking for a tragedy at some point. Heck.. your connection could go down or the site could go down. What if you suddenly lost power?!

Save often... the intranetz are a scary place.

Also the site autosaves posts in progress quite regularly and has a restore function located below the left side of the reply box and it seems to last forever until you post it or write another reply in the box.2014-11-06 22:56:00

Thanks guys :L Got a lot of help.

But on a constructive note. I seriously think whoever administrates this website, needs to turn off the auto log off in general. I really don't see how the option is helpful; I mean I can on a very little level, but not much.
Anyway; this community is great, got loads of help. Thank you again.

It's not :L
I was trying not to use words that I thought might be profaned to this website...instead of using the common F word, I just wrote P-I-...-E-D off.
Strict, but meh xD I can understand.
Cheers for your help :L

I'm the Administrator and it will stay as is. Again, sorry you lost some typing.. but there are ways around it as suggested and no real need to get upset about it to the point of lashing out at a web site. Since you are new and lost all that work, I see no need to wrap you in gummy bears and feed you to sharks.

..and keep in mind bypassing language filters are against the rules.

Ahaha! Oh dear, "sorry you lost some typing", "no real need to get upset about it, to the point of lashing out at a web site".
Jwwphotos, mate...it was more than that, but I won't elaborate on that, on a superficial level, I can kind of see the type of person you are. ^_^
No, it would not be to pleasing to give me a penalization, especially for a trivial reason. It would be quite despotic. And I'll happily remove any post with profanity, no biggy, as I said before, I can understand. ^_^

Type of person I am? Oh geeeze...

I wasn't the one acting like a raging lunatic on a fan site devoted to a character made of cloth. Of course I'm sure it was upsetting to you and I am sorry for you not knowing of our auto log-off feature. Better? I've had it get me as well, but was it really worth that kind of post? Doubtful. Perhaps we should post a warning. "HEY!! Check the Remember Me thingy or you may be booted". lol

I was just letting you know the rules. I'm actually quite a nice person. Ask anyone.

I've known this man for around five years now, and I can clearly state that this man is not a vice person. That would be me. :kz:

But yeah, the check box to keep you logged in is pretty much standard internet protocol. Not even just on vbulletin forums, but on pretty much every site with a password system.

I don't know. He's always been a big jerk from what I have seen!

I kid, I kid.

LOL! @ "HEY!! Check the Remember Me thingy or you may be booted" xD You seem alright. You all seem really nice.
You just got to stop simplifying my reason for abrupt behavior. I know you read my post, but I'll just clear it up a bit. I was meant to be working, and I'm seriously a busy person throughout the day and most nights. So when I devoted that precious time (time is real) to this; and then found out it all got removed...well that ticked me off a little bit, cause then I gotta redo it all again, and that bites up more time.

Also; this community out of all the communities I have visited, has been far way nicer than any of the others; no arrogance, snobs, etc. I'm not being a suck up at all, I promise. I'm a quite a truthful guy, so I don't have a good reputation in real life
But really, it's actually surprising O_O Or maybe I'm just online on one of those days xD
Anyway, there's some positive site feedback

I'm sure we all understand your pain. Because I'm fairly sure we've all had the same issue. It's just that you were complaining about an issue that was more of a user error, and not necessarily the site's fault. You can't blame it on the site that you did not know. You can only blame your lack of knowledge. I would say your own ignorance, but I would hate for you to take that as calling you stupid, which saying that does not mean that you are. It was just a case of ignorance. Not your fault, but not the site's either.

It sucks, we know, but to say what you said in the OP, rather than mentioning it nicely in a way that placed blame on no one would have been far more acceptable.

Haha, I know definitely know what ignorance means. I'm let's just say quite good with words. xD
I did know that it was my ignorance with this site, and I was rude.
But behind the anger, I was still actually giving them feedback, that they should make an amendment to that. Was not a problem of any sort. But just a maybe better idea, for people who do create new accounts, and are not aware of the features. Not saying this is a big issue that needs to be issued this instance, or taken into deep consideration. Was just something minor, because I at the time, really did know there would most likely be a turn off switch, was just shocked at why there even was one.
Sorry for the abrupt statement administrators! It didn't occur to me that I should calm down, before posting. So I really am sorry.

I think our 'like' button is the thanks thing in the bottom left of every post. Although I don't think many use that. At least, I sure as heck never do.

Oh, is THAT what that button is for? I wish I would have known that the day I decided to fix my hair while enjoying a bubble bath!

Well.. it used to be the "RAWK, please push this to eject out into the void" button, but he always found his way back. 2014-11-07 11:40:00
