Game HDMI cords gone bad?

Archive: 5 posts

*mew ...Today i bring a strange story.

Not long ago i was curious how you display a image from a computer onto the TV. So the HDMI cord was unpluged from my PS3 and was put into a laptop, well it worked and was much more simple then i thought it would be, the TV was now working as a screen for the laptop... but seems not all stories end happy. after i was done i tried to plug the HDMI cord back into my PS3... and the image that displayed on the TV was screwed up, there was thick static red lines going across the screen... i tried everything i could think of, turning off and on the TV and game system and also unpluging everything... and nothing helped. So curious i left and grabbed my HDMI cord from my Wii U, i plugged it in my PS3 and it worked like normal again and i had a clear picture on my TV... how magical... but since the original cord was kinda old i just thought that the original cord i was using on my PS3 must had been old and got hurt somehow... but that's not the end of the story. no no nooo... later i unplugged my Wii U cord from the PS3 and had it plugged it into the laptop... well it worked fine on the laptop, displayed the image on the laptop to the TV perfectly nice... but then i tried plugging it back in to my PS3 later... and what the hell? now i was getting the red static line thing again! so i tried turning everything off, plugging the cords into different HDMI slots on the TV, ETC again and no luck. and now the cords don't work on my game systems combo with the TVs at all...on 1 of my TVs it says something like 'resolution mismatch, please change the resolution of your device' and on another TV it just says no signal but sometimes shows a screwed up image shortly... yet oddly enough the last i checked the HDMI cord from my Wii U still works fine on the laptop to the TV... i even tried changing the resolution on my Wii U and stuff to see if that was a problem, but nope, changing my game systems resolution doesn't seem to help at all and now both my PS3 and Wii U cords no longer seem to work on my Wii U & PS3 game systems.

And that's the story. Just what the mew happened?! Did the laptop somehow ruin my cords so that they can only be used with the laptop? are these cords not meant to be used with more then 1 type of system/device regardless of the fact all HDMI cords are overall the exact same? What is this witchcraft going on?

Well I ordered 2 new cords online... and i'll see if they work ok once i get them... but i sure as mew know i won't be plugging them into a laptop... or anything else besides a single system each and a TV.

Well got my new cords in the mail. They work perfectly fine... And as I don't want to risk it ever again i won't mix and match my HDMI cords with different systems/devices anymore from now on. and especially I won't use them on any PC, If I want to use any cords on a PC I'll just use the screwed up cords... might as well since a PC is the only thing they work on now strangely. *mew2014-11-10 03:53:00
