Not 100% sure if I'm following you, but if you're wanting transforming characters that share a single controllinator, yes it's possible. I did this in LBP2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdkEoZM76ag What you need to do is have your controllinator attached to a floating invisible material that you specifically control. The directional buttons would have a tag on it that tells your current form to "die" (just set to vanish) and it would instantly emit another in its place, add some smoke and its a pretty seamless transformation. As for abilities, all you need to do is have your ability buttons linked to a tag called "Ability 1" (2, 3 etc) and have each character that spawn be able to receive that information. So instead of it being directly connected have a tag and receiver to tell your actual unit what to do. There are probably easier ways, this was a huge pain in the butt to do in LBP2, but I managed to pull it off, so yes, anything you want to do is at least POSSIBLE. Likely in LBP3 it'll be easier.
