Boss help

Archive: 6 posts

Alright for my next level, I've crreated a large boss fight room. I've got traps and things a plenty, but I'm at a loss for a way to defeat him that's not too cliched. At first I was thinking of defeating him with paint emitters like for the basilisk bog boss, but that would be copying, so that's out.2009-02-26 06:16:00

Since you say the room is full of traps, what if sackboy needed to back the creature up into a large trap in the back of the room?

Basically, have the boss tied to a number of stiff pistons. Each piston is attached to a directional magentic key switch that is adjacent to a magnetic key on dissolve material. Each objective in the room is set to one of the dissolve materials, forcing the boss to step back every time sackboy completes an objective. When sackboy completes all (or enough since you could use extra pistons and thereby making it so sackboy only needs to do 6 out of 8 as an example) the boss backs up into the trap, which activates and finishes him. This is done by have a magnetic key switch on the boss set to '1' and the key on the trap. The magnetic key switch is attached to a protected brain on the boss. The real advantage to this method is that you force sackboy to explore the trapped room instead of just finding a safe spot to shoot from.

If you want to get really fancy you can use an emitter to make a "dying boss" faximile as a pseudo cutscene.

Wow, that's not bad. I'm going to keep that idea. Anyway, I found a good way too defeat him, and a test of him is up. Mind if I use that idea later?2009-02-27 02:58:00
