Custom Power Up Capability

Archive: 11 posts

This will be a list of stuffs power up creator should be able to do on LBP 3

The First One

Is the ability to use power up in pairs, basically having more than one power up like for example

http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130209071004/clonewarsadventurescharacter/images/0/0d/Starkiller_by_terrablaze-d3kqep4.jpg
Dual Lightsaber

- or -

Jetpack with Dual Pistol

Now l know peoples will be asking how is this all going to be work? Well you can map different button (or buttons) for each power up

The Second One

Is the power to edit which hand sacky is carrying the power up because what if a creator want to make a protagonist that can only use a sword with his or her left handed then it should be possible

The Third One

Will be the ability to use power up underwater, now just imagine this will give birth to ton of possibility

Bioshock anyone?

The Final One

Power Up can change from a non-physical object to a physical object (and vice versa) so that way if a creator want a shield that actually block attack then it should work

I think duel wielding would probably be the most difficult out of them all. I am assuming you control the movement of a hand held power up the same way you would move the character's arm (basing that off of gameplay videos as I have not played the game). The problem with having a second power up in the other hand is that in order to control that arm the player would have to not be moving, as they both use the left stick.

A possible fix could be that the right stick would control both arms. In cases that may work (ex: duel handguns) while in other cases it my look a bit silly (shield and sword). Regardless the more customization the better!

I stand corrected. Duel wielding will be just fine. I had completely forgotten that you could animate movements like that. It's been a while since I played. The gameplay in that video is amazing though. With the advanced animation options in LBP3 duel weilding will be awesome (if they implement it).2014-10-20 23:15:00

Granted. In that video, neither arm is aiming; simply an aesthetic look for the arms.

And both of the weapons aren't being used at the same time.

Duel wielding guns would be difficult, if you wanted them to shoot in two different directions. The player would have to program that the arms lock in place, or they'd have to move left/right by some other method, like the triggers.

A sword and shield don't need to be aimed, thus they don't need the sticks.

I would like to see the ability to hold two weapons though regardless.

As for the physicalizing of the weapons. That's not needed since it can easily be done with very simple logic. Basically holo and an impact sensor. You define the hit box of the shield via corner editor, and there you go.

Yeah holo and sensor alone aren't going to do it, but l don't need to know by someone how to make a weapon physical because l'll figure that out for myself hopefully if custom power up allow us to really customize. You're right about it being difficult to shoot the dual gun in different direction however you can shoot the dual gun in the same direction and map it with two different trigger button to shoot for left gun/right gun.

The last two yeah. Well atleast in the beta. Only one thing in one hand but in the full game that might change. Fingers crossed! 2014-10-23 03:53:00

That's actually why I said 'Duel wielding guns would be difficult, if you wanted to shoot them in two different directions'. Duel wielding and then using one at a time (or both in one direction) would be very easy to pull off; if duel wielding was a thing in the game. Which I would like to see duel wielding, because that could be neat. Granted, you can easily make a gun that switches ammo with the new blaster handle, but it wouldn't have the same feel as a good 'ol western with two 6-shooters.

On your point of 'really customizing'. The customization that the devs have given us, is the logic. And that is some mighty fine customization we can do right thar. With the tools we have now, making something 'physical' is very easy. Granted, it wouldn't be how you think it would be since I'd imagine having it actually physical would cause all kinds of bugs and issues. I'm sure there's a reason why they made the held weapons suddenly become non-physical. Unless of course, you can slap a de-physicalizer, set to physicalize, onto a blaster weapon and BAM! Yuh got yurself a physical weapon!

That would be awkward to control if you had to move as well :/2014-10-23 10:44:00

Actually, I'm not sure about the underwater one because no one tested it out and told me.2014-10-23 12:28:00

I'm curious about this one as well. And if not able to use them underwater, than how about while having the 'Swimming' animation going while holding a weapon, and then able to aim; in case someone wanted to make a non-(water material/DLC water) that uses 'water'.
