Save Object Lock

Archive: 20 posts

As a creator in Little Big Planet, I like to dive in when there are not that many of my friends playing at the time, and allow "randoms" to see my levels and give me constructive criticism. Which is not really the smartest idea because sometimes the "randoms" will try saving my creations to use in their levels. Most of the time I catch them and keep them from saving, but sometimes it does not end up that way and they get away laughing maniacally....

So My suggestion for Little Big Planet 3 would be to allow the host a setting in create mode that can toggle off the save object tool for all the other players allowing only the host to use it while creating.

I believe this setting would cut back on people trying to steal other sackfolk's Items and bring the community together.

(I know that I would no longer be worried to allow "randoms" to join and check out my levels.)

Please help me get this noticed by the developers behind Little Big Planet 3. By tweeting to them and posting it to other threads maybe we can better the LBP3 community and allow a safe create mode for all! :star::star:

Yes, this has been suggested dozens of times and I can't understand why it hasn't been done.2014-10-20 07:49:00

Maybe the devs don't know how to do this!?!?!! It's probably more difficult than it sounds to make.

That happened to me before, i let a random player join and they took some logic i was working on! I would really love for this to be implemented so my objects could be safe and still let random players join!

I am pretty sure the devs could do this, though you may be right it could be more difficult than we think. Personally I don't see it being super difficult to implement.

The devs must have at least considered this feature. I'd be surprised if they haven't. Maybe we'll see it in the full release. Maybe some should inbox Steven_I. Though I doubt an object save lock will be implemented even if it is one of the most wanted features from a lot of creators. We can only wait.

Maybe they're not doing it because it goes against the credo Share, and because there are easy ways around it, like, not inviting stranges over to your moon, or showing off your creations in play mode.2014-10-20 13:07:00

I cant agree more with the OP. There really should be a setting that would prompt the host when ever the CAPTURE TOOL is being attempted to be used. This setting should have an on/off feature. We all agree the Play, Create, Share slogan is great...and should not change. Adding an "ASK TO CAPTURE" feature may instill some Please's and Thank You's to some of our members of our community.2014-10-20 22:29:00

If it is not added at release I hope they add it in a future update.2014-10-20 22:56:00

That why you can't let any random person into your level (or your own video game) especially if you're trying to work hard on a big project (like myself) because if you some phenomenal ideas that will blow everyone mind up to SPACE then you can let no one into your project unless they're work with as a teammate and you know that you'll be able to trust that person then it okay

When l was working my project on PS Vita l never let anyone in to see it even if it was a friend, but of course l let my real life friends played what l made so far because l trust them, also they would most likely forget what played since there are not creator themselves, but anyway l would never let an online friend see my project since l have too many great ideas and l don't want no one steal them cause l know some or most of the ideas l come up with hasn't been done before, so l got to keep that a secret

I don't see why they need to include it. The people who steal the creations generally are crap at creating and never use it beyond messing around in their own moons. I never worry if my stuff is stolen (especially since it's generally hard to follow logic-wise)2014-10-21 04:36:00

Rather harsh calling them 'crap'.

If the feature were in the game it's there for those of us who want it and if you don't want it, don't use it. Its that simple. I don't see why people refuse something that protects their work from thieves.

This is a really nice idea. With an idea with this so is the creators able to show off their work and have fun with random players that may have potential to be great friends in the future, Whether if you want to befriend a mature person or someone more playful you haven't met before.
And the argument against just not show random people your work is just sad for the people which wants to show their work without worrying.

I agree and do apologize. My main point is simply saying although it would be nice to have this feature, it probably would do more harm then good because people will either forget where to find the setting or it will clog up the menu. People who tend to steal either 1) can't make the object themselves and refuse to try and learn or 2) are lazy which shows itself in the level.
If they could find a non-obtrusive yet logical place to put this option, I would support this 100%

I'd love this. I would have invited many people over to "my place" if I didn't think they'd swipe stuff.

I'm not the strongest creator, so what takes some people hours to make may take me days or longer. I don't just want to just that away for free...at least let me give it to you in a prize bubble.

I see what you mean, honestly, after just not playing with "the non-creative sort" and just continued to play with a creative group of friends, we never have ANYONE save anything of anyone elses, honestly, its been YEARS since someone last saved anything of mine without permission, it depends on the crowd, but if as you were saying were able to put this option to be THERE but not slow down creation, then it could be a very powerful tool

PLEASE!!! I'm so tired of ppl copying my stuff like its theirs. I'd be making a robot right? While they're blowing stuff up, I place down some simple logic and they just capture it, and go back to blowing stuff up. And then I'm done, they capture it and then leave.

How About A Tweaker?

I think it's more efficient and won't take up thermometer if we just have a toggle option in the pause menu. So much simpler.

Make it a setting in an object tweaker, set by the player. The tweaker would not be able to be removed by anyone other than the one who created it, and it would not allow capture. Or, like community prizes, it would not allow you to alter it.2014-12-07 00:33:00
