Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines......no........sorry........I meant go and get your red boots on and a suitable cape.......then prepare to FLY Superman around Metropolis!!!

The aim is simple, fly Superman around the city and find the 'S' symbols. The more you find, the better the prize.

Controls are also simple as they are the same as Karting....adjust speed R2, slow/stop L2 and steer/bank/turn/climb/dive with Left stick.

Prize locations may also become 'unlocked' according to score, so look out for them!

Find all 15 checkpoints to unlock 5 BONUS BLUE ones with much higher score value.

Collect all 20 and win Superman himself (with the spawn point controls too, obviously)

Hope you enjoy my latest creation. Happy Flying!

Amazingly done! It is quite difficult though, which is nice. I've only managed to get 11 after 3 tries. Was close to 12.

A couple of comments: the guiding arrows are a great mechanic, but you have to get pretty low to the ground to see them, which can cost me a good bit of extra time. If they were slightly bigger, it might help to see them from farther. Also, some on higher locations would be very welcome to keep us from needing to waste so much time bouncing up and down.

Secondly, it would be very nice to have more direct vertical control. Instead of just tilting, you could have L1 and R1 could make you go straight up or straight down.

The buildings and cars and everything about metropolis is great, and looks fantastic, and the placement of the targets are really creative.

Oh, and I noticed that on one of the traffic lights (near the starting spot) still has visible logic on the back of it. I didn't check the others, so there's at least one. I took a picture, but forgot to upload it. Don't know if pics in level are automatically uploaded to the level page.

Thanks for the review. I'll sort out those bits and pieces. It is designed to be a challenging level to be learned as you play ie you'll learn where the phone booth 'hint' arrows are and also where the symbols are 'likely' to appear!

I originally had a vertical movement, created more problems than solutions with the other flight controls, so removed it.

My advice, fly faster, the faster you go the more momentum, or force if you like, you'll get when climbing or diving. Pulling back hard left or hard right also bank turns Superman giving you again a quicker reaction on left or right climbing turns.

I'm very pleased you're enjoying the level, a couple more goes and you'll get them all I'm certain.

Thanks again.

Level edited.

Hint arrows larger, definitely can be seen from higher up and further away.

Logic hidden + other scenic tweaks.

Sorry, forgot to thank Onepoppa and Atheistsw for some of the construction props used on this level. There are lots more on Onepoppa's dlc level https://karting.lbp.me/v/izlm

Where would we be without the 'share' ethic of Littlebigplanet?

Thanks guys!

Just played...
First run, With zero understanding of controls.
It's a quick learn on controls after about 3 minutes I was into it, not to complex. up/down/left/right, gas (3 speeds), brake.
Only thing I got stuck looking for the 'warehouse' logo. Until I understood how to... (cough cough).
Collected 8.

Over all great idea, with randomizer.
So I played it again... and again. Slowly learning the 'positions of logos', getting farther and farther.
10,12,15... Yes. Oh what 5 'blue ones'. Darn, collected 1.
8 minutes, is a great length. Not to long, but long enough. It's possible (unless... you added 'something' that only you know).
If I perfected this level (all 20 plus some time), What score would I acheive? I noticed your scoreboard, and wondered if you 'maxed out' the score for 1st.

*Flying out of level was zero concern, great job.

Side comments:
Very minor detail. Noticed logos are 'build through' one sided, If you copied 1, spun it around and glue it to the other side. You wouldn't have backwards logos, both sides would be 'front facing', all logic on logo would be shared as 'item' so the copied logo logic can be erased.

Would have be nice to have additional 'points' placed around, maybe low on the road between each building, or on top buildings. But it's un-needed.

Overall: Great level that pushes the ' LBPK-game' into something it's not. Has high replay value (awsome use of randomizer).
Will be replaying until 'Perfected' (I want to see the control set-up).

If your looking for a different style game, superman is worth playing.
Simple and good.

Thanks V2C, appreciate the review. In answer to a couple of your comments.

The Superman logo was double sided originally, but, and you can try this yourself, it doesn't look like it's spinning if the logo is the same both sides.
The controls were designed to be 'kart-simple' ie R2 is the accelerator, L2 is the brake, Steer with left stick so if you miss the instruction text you can still work it out because they're the ones that are usually used.
The max score is, as you correctly guessed, mine. I wanted to make sure everything was working correctly online and also show that it is possible to find all the checkpoints. I had approximately 45secs left on this run through so I think the time limit is about right. It just means, as you've already proved, that a few goes will reap rewards, learning this level is what it's all about!

Glad you're enjoying it. However, if determination leaves you then I may be 'nudged' for clues to positions of the final 5 blue ones, but if you're like me then I won't let a level get the better of me.

No help needed, thanks.
I'll do it, even if it takes me 100 tries.
Nothing will stop me mwahahaha...
Only thing that sucks is no-one can beat your score.

I guess I could put a countdown score on the level, so the fastest players will get the highest score, but to be honest this level is really about being rewarded with prizes for perseverance. Take any game you can think of and if you get through certain points you usually are given a new weapon, or ability or some such. That's the idea with this, prizes that have been well crafted, (I'd like to think) that are perfectly usable in many different types of levels. When the player wins Superman, for instance, there's no reason why it couldn't be immediately changed to any kind of flying object and gyroscopes, thrusters etc tweaked for purpose (i also included the Spawn point with controls so it can be used immediately).

I know, I'm just bugging you about the score.
The way your level is set-up its based more on the 'prizes' rather than 'points'.
Which is awsome and different.
And yes, my goal is to see the control set-up (so I have to beat it).
Like you said, it can be used for anything (a Starfox level would be cool).

Taking one idea and added something to evolve it into something different.
One person creates something that can move forward, the next person makes it so that something can go backwards... and so on. Pretty soon, you have evolved that 'something' into what is needed. Each idea, bringing forth the next.

I was shocked at how simply detailed your superman level is, compared to how fun and challenging it is.
There was no need for any of that smoke and glitter, your level stands on it own.

If you havent played this level yet, I do recommend it.

Would be happy to help, if you want, with a transformers flight level.

Just a quick question, How many notches on the thermo does the spawn point (with logic) and superman use up in a blank level (none edited)?
Just planning ahead.

- - - - - - - - - -

Just beat it, all 15 plus the 5 bonus. It was challenging, and fun.
Question about the spawn spoint and superman, have both. Is there something I need to do to make it move? I placed the spawn, and superman. Tested it and nothing... There is logic on superman, and a kart controlinator with transmitters on the spawnpoint. Am I missing something?

*Dont worry about the 'Thermo' question, is see it.

Congratulations!

Yes. I put a note on the Superman prize in the description. You need to change any part of him to 'dynamic', I recommend his left arm so as not to disturb the logic.

I'm unsure why this happens, but when I grouped the 'moving' cape to Superman himself he defaulted to a non-dynamic object. I changed one element of him to 'dynamic' and all worked again. I captured him at that point, but each time I used that 'captured' object it reverted back to non-dynamic.

Strange, but I think it's to do with the double linked hinge motors for the cape movement.
