HW Nightmare B4 Christmas

Archive: 9 posts

Without further ado, I am proud to announce my entry for the Hallowen contest "Nightmare B4 Christmas!"
https://karting.lbp.me/v/xb3z

I have always loved the Tim Burton film. So my choice for the Halloween contest was a no brainer. Journey through Halloween town and explore what's beyond the Holiday doors with Jack Skeleton. There are three paths to explore. Custom created Nightmare characters and cinematics. Avoid Nightmare themed weapons, all while wizzing past classic scenes recreated for karting! This level was a ton of fun to create. Thanks to Maxammo for the pumpkin and jackolantern. I encourage you guys to explore each path to get the full experience. I don't want to give anything else away. So please enjoy your journey through Halloween Town!

Ah! Nightmare before Christmas! You said you were doing it based on a movie like usual, and I should have known this would be it but it never crossed my mind. Really excited for this!2014-10-14 01:17:00

Another well crafted level! The design and atmosphere are great. The characters and weapons are all well done. From a gameplay standpoint, there was a little lag at the multipath section (couldn't notice a specific reason, sorry), and the overall track layout was a little... round... there weren't really any turns to make.

However, I really liked the multipath part, they are all very different and interesting. It did take me until the second lap to realize that each 'object' is a different entrance, that wasn't immediately obvious to me for some reason, maybe if there were arrows on the ground split to point at them.

Another great level from you though!

I thought about hinting the other paths with arrows. I wanted the player to stumble across it, or say hey maybe if I. Almost an added suprise factor. However I played online with some sack folk and they took the same path each lap. I may update if I notice other peeps aren't finding the extra paths. The oval layout wasn't on purpose, needed the room in the center for the extra paths. However, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

If your going to 'add' extra arrows for the paths. You should consider making it look like the 'doors' are open first. Or maybe a 'lightbeam' infront with different color lights, 1 for each. Something distinct yet not obvious.2014-10-14 16:50:00
