DLC, Multiple PSN Accounts, and PS4

So I just realized something that might be a bit... uh, problematic, when it comes to moving to LittleBigPlanet 3. See, back when LittleBigPlanet the original first came out, all those 6 years ago, I was using a different PSN account than the one I use today. I bought a good number of costumes and both the Metal Gear Solid and Pirates of the Caribbean level kits using that account, and fortunately, because of the way the PS3 shares content between activated users, I'm still able to use that content on my new account. However, the PS4 does things differently. I'm not quite sure how differently, but it's enough to make me worry a bit. Does anyone know whether all users on a PS4 are able to use DLC belonging to one user, so long as that PS4 is set as the DLC owner's "Main System"? I haven't had an opportunity to try yet, unfortunately, and I'm worried that I'll have to rebuy at least the Metal Gear and Pirates of the Caribbean packs. I might have to get the Festive Goodies pack and Valentines Day packs again as well. | 2014-10-13 23:35:00 Author: Ryuhza Posts: 355 |
I will never understand why peolpe buy DLC and make multiple accounts. However, to answer your question. Nope... | 2014-10-14 00:45:00 Author: StarBot Posts: 16 |
I have a PS4, and there is a SET AS PRIMARY PS4 for this account, and a few other settings like this, I'm sure sony kept profits in mind when designing transfer, havent really had any games with trans-console content though, so I'm not sure but you will most likely be able to | 2014-10-14 01:23:00 Author: amiel445566 Posts: 664 |
All accounts on a ps4 can access DLC if the account that owns it is set to "primary" status. | 2014-10-14 01:24:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma Posts: 1414 |
I will never understand why peolpe buy DLC and make multiple accounts. However, to answer your question. Nope... I was fourteen at the time, and I didn't like my PSN ID. Also, it was a perfectly reasonable prospect at the time. All accounts on a ps4 can access DLC if the account that owns it is set to "primary" status. That's a relief. Do you know this from personal experience though? | 2014-10-14 02:10:00 Author: Ryuhza Posts: 355 |
This is what PS4's user guide states: •If a user activates a system with his or her account, other users on the system can use applications and enjoy some PlayStation?Plus benefits from that account, even if that user is not logged in. http://manuals.playstation.net/document/gb/ps4/settings/activation.html | 2014-10-14 02:27:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma Posts: 1414 |

The problem you faced is one people have been asking Sony to fix for a long time now. They don't allow people to change their PSN ID. Though back then it was understandable that they did not provide a name-change service. It is now way past time they start offering this service, so people can keep their original account AND change their name. Like you said, most of us didn't think long term when we picked a username. In the early PS3 days, no one had any reason to believe that the username they chose could be used to represent you as a creator to a community of fellow creators and players. IGN did a good write up on this. I really hope Sony is listening and working on a solution, and not one that arrives in 5 years. | 2014-10-14 03:01:00 Author: KAPBAM Posts: 1348 |
This is what PS4's user guide states: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/gb/ps4/settings/activation.html Egh, that page doesn't exactly ease my concerns. It only mentions applications and PlayStation Plus benefits (ie, online play). I already knew about those, but it doesn't mention additional content such as DLC being accessible to all users. | 2014-10-14 06:19:00 Author: Ryuhza Posts: 355 |

Kind of confusing, because I bought something on blacklight retribution, but it didn't apply to other users, so this may need some clarification | 2014-10-14 08:08:00 Author: amiel445566 Posts: 664 |
That's a relief. Do you know this from personal experience though? I borrowed a friends account so we could compare Flower accross PS3/4 had full access on my account while his was a primary on the console, no access when I took its primary status away. | 2014-10-14 13:11:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
All accounts on a ps4 can access DLC if the account that owns it is set to "primary" status. What if I have bought DLC with 2 different accounts, and use a third account to actually play LBP? Would I only be able to use the stuff owned by my primary account? | 2014-10-14 13:33:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
